I'll be very happy when a torrent is released. I am traveling right now and my Internet connection is not quite stable enough to handle a large download.

Update: I finally found a mirror that supports resume, so my download manager was able to pick up where it had failed and did not have to start from the beginning. :)

Made a fresh Cinnamon install yesterday and everything works like a charm as usual with Mint. I've heard that when you upgrade from 18.1 to 18.2 you won't get LightDM display manager.
The only thing I was wondering about was why they had choosen an allready "dead" 4.8.x kernel as default. Well, probably because of Ubuntu.

OK had a few Cinnamon crashes since the upgrade - none today funnily enough - but 3.44 update coming down now..

I've had Cinnamon crash several times as well, before and after installing Cinnamon v. 3.44. It's very infrequent. The one thing I noticed is that it only crashes when I have Firefox open for an extended period of time. The next time it happens I'm going to examine the log files and try to find the source of the problem.

Can anyone please tell which one should i download?
On official download page it is showing Cinnamon, Mate, Xfce & KDE and I'm not sure which one I should download?
It'll be my first Linux experience if I install this. I heard its good for beginners.:)

Hello @fadingstar - Deciding which desktop to install depends on two things: Your personal preferences and how much memory your system has. If you read the release notes for each version, you'll find that 2GB system memory is recommended for the KDE desktop and a minimum of of 1GB for the other three.

But I think that recommendation needs to be changed. Right now I have Linux Mint 18.2 installed with the Cinnamon 3.4.4 desktop, and I'm looking at 760-780MB of memory in use with the system idle. If I open the Firefox browser, memory usage jumps up to 1.2GB! Needless to say, if you have an Intel Atom netbook with just 1GB of system memory, then choosing Cinnamon is definitely not an option. So I feel that their recommendation needs to be amended to show 2GB system memory as the minimum for both KDE and Cinnamon.

Go with Cinnamon - it's more customizable (most of us are usng it so more support here) ..if you want barebones go Xfce

John, did you get to troubleshoot this one yet?

I'm back on on 18.1 - when I have time I'll do a clean install and re-install all apps - just curious what the issue with Cinnamon is with the upgrade...

Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on your point of view), I haven't had a crash since that last post. But if it happens again, I promise to post whatever info I can come up with.

As i said if I install any, it will be my first experience with Linux. So I'm not sure about anything. Until I use if for a few days I can't say anything. Never used Linux.
I have I5 processor with 8GB RAM, so it should be good enough for dual booting Linux Mint with Windows 10 or at least in VMware.
Again thanks all of you for your valuable replies.
