There are alot of linux native games for linux. Half Life 2 series, Portal, Wasteland 2, XCOM Enemy Within, The Witchers 2 and a lot more thanks to steam.

As for windows games, run Wine or playonlinux

Yup, hope more support steam linux - Wine/PlayOnLinux is a cop-out IMHO... don't use it... never will.

Why you want to play windows games on linux anyway ? then stick with windows instead.

Linux is already a pain in the ass with all the sudo commands and s**t support for NVIDIA cards. Most of the time your linux will freeze and you need to do CTRL + ALT = BACKSPACE to login again (to get out of the freeze mode). Linux is not perfect, it's still stuck in the 80's begin 90's.

Ubuntu released a update (14.10) that removes FINALLY the x.org server crap from linux (the s**tty display drivers). Many NVIDIA drivers had issues with that. Sure Mint 17.1 didn't adapt to that part. As much how i love Linux Mint, i can't stand against those random freezes. No one on their community knows how to fix it so i doubt it will ever get fixed by them. Even ubuntu said they fixed the issue 2 years ago (the freezing part) and yet the bug still comes back. I didn't test 14.10 with the new display drivers but i am not going to waste more time on linux. I never had any freezes in windows but linux, such a pain.

Rebecca upgrade went smoothly - only issue thus far is that StarkMenu 1.3.3 applet doesn't support Cinnamon 2.4 :(

Just try it to see if you like it or not, maybe it works better for your machine, maybe not. Most distro's has issues on mine and my machine is from 2011 :laie:

As for the use, it's not the same as windows. Windows has installers while linux has a more complex system when you don't use the market, installing apps is sometimes a big pain. Try to install your video card for sample, i need to do alot of things on my machine to get it to run properly, while on windows it only took a few seconds.

    Windows:
    1. Download driver
    2. Install driver

    Linux:
Download the Nvidia driver and move it to your “/home/user-name” directory. For example, we will use the driver package
    NVIDIA-Linux-x86-331.67.run.
Rename it “N-331.67.run”, so you don't have to type that long name later.

Install the package “libc6-dev” by opening the Terminal and typing:
    sudo apt-get install libc6-dev

Then type this command to create a file named “disable-nouveau.conf”:
    gksudo gedit /etc/modprobe.d/disable-nouveau.conf

Add these two lines to the opened file:
    blacklist nouveau
    options nouveau modeset=0

Save the file. In the Terminal type this command:
    sudo update-initramfs -u

    Reboot.
Enter the virtual console tty1 by pressing Ctrl+Alt+F1.
Log in and type this command to stop the display manager:
    sudo service mdm stop

Sometimes you may now see a different screen. Just press Ctrl+Alt+F1 again.
    Then type:
    sudo sh N-331.67.run

Ignore the message about the "pre-install script failed!" Always choose “yes” during the installation, and when it's finished type:
    sudo service mdm start

Windows wont survive that long, i think Linux will get the upperhand in the future.
