@3zero3: I'm talking about the vulnerability in the link I posted.

With the latest ones, just about every new intel cpu is affected.

it is a bit like acts of terrorism, i think. if the media kept completely quiet about it,such events would be totally ineffective. all they want is the publicity. no noise-> no effect.
but somebody chose to make noise about this. so`intels`stock fell by percents on the stockmarket. predictably. and the register or whatever got free publicity. if they had kept quiet about it, i suspect no crook would ever find out. and we would all still be running xp, instead of w 10.. progress comes at a price..

Sorry, but there is some misunderstanding here.

Intel ME is not part of this vulnerability or this thread.

    Meltdown is hardware based.

Technology is always like that. There is always a loophole for somebody to exploit. The best option beside patches is to be watchful all rather cautious of what you do(websites you visit, files you download, applications you run, etc) online with your system.

Meltdown and Spectre are the new kids on the block now, although on the hardware level expect more in the future.

I've heard also AMD CPU's are affected by this Spectre thing? Also that there is only fixes for Meltdown, bot not the other one...
I ask here because seems there is more savy people that in other forums regarding this topic.

It seems Raspberry Pi is not affected in these vulnerability cases. Outside of the hardware level most browsers seem to be affected also - as patches have been released to fix them. In other words, this issue might just be more impacting than it is being reported. I heard big advertising agencies have been using these loopholes to collect information for years without been reported. Doesn't that seem intentionally as accomplices? This trouble is not going away very soon.

So... basically, after all this reading, AMD is out of this. This makes me happy I bought an AMD XD...

What a mess for Intel... It almost sounds like they did this on purpose with MS to keep saying they outperform AMD, and now this slapped their faces... I'm sure I'm wrong in this tho...

If you have Windows servers at home.
Can you post before patch and after patch performance?
Use CPU-Z to bench and stress your CPU.

And also the results after microcode update if available.

    Thanks!

    Or create new BIOS completely.

There are open-source variants coreboot.org and libreboot.org but since they are non-nonfree the number of machines in their list is limited.

But edit bios or make your own. Is the best approach here.

That's a lot of work and it's mostly done for specific devices e.g. Chromebooks.

My BIOS is already heavily modified and I've just started collecting the new Intel microcode. Most of it is dated mid-November and early December.
