Could you tell why the average user should be interested in thousands of intermediate Canary and Dev versions what are useful only for testing purposes? In general, even most Beta versions should not affect the average user in any way. Why should somebody been interested what was tested before release. And if, maybe only the last 2-3 beta versions before the release of the stable version.
Microsoft has chosen the path of perpetual testing of its products. Most people of Microsoft testing products without end and edge, this also applies to Win10 and Edge Chromium and Office systems. In fact, we all turned into testing geese. And this is for a long time if not forever. The whole thing takes precious days and years of life for users. People have no time to live and enjoy the sun with these smartphones, tablets and computers and Microsoft. This is not for long, very soon the day of judgment, people surrounded themselves with all kinds of idols without which they can not imagine their life, and this is very dangerous for the afterlife.
Took a risk uninstalling CANARY hoping to fix the Update Error Code... only to now have my STABLE Edge version to start having the Update Error Code appear. I believe the problem lies with the fact ALL EDGE VERSIONS download their updates to the same folder within the OS, and their seems to be a master Edge Update file in the main folder, and updates also so to sub folder update. So when I uninstalled CANARY, I believe it corrupted the master EDGE updated file which STABLE looks to for updates!!! I sent a long reply to Edge Feedback via the app and hope to get a proper fix out of MS Edge Team... hoping... Even worse, I uninstalled ALL Edge versions from computer, restarted computer, cleaned out all Edge registry entries, restarted computer again and then only installed STABLE version... and no matter what I do, Edge Update is broken now!!! Unless there's a fix soon, only option I have to get a fully functioning Edge Stable with working Update page is having to clean install my system.... WHICH I DON'T WANT TO DO!!! UPDATE: After multiple restarts, uninstalls and reinstalls... I at least got my STABLE Edge connecting once again the Update... but now I have to confirm/accept the Microsoft Edge Update box... I can work with that, but had to add all my Edge:Flags again, even though I copy/overrided the DEFAULT folder with my current backup. At the end of the day, reinstalling Edge (STABLE, CANARY or DEV) over the existing version your running seems to fix MOST problems... CANARY still won't connect to UPDATE server, have a feeling that an EDGE Team Member changed something behind the scenes while working from home.
The issue doesn't seem to be a connection to server cause you do get a green arrow icon on menu (the 3 dots icon) which tells you there is an update and clicking on it gives you a massage to update and restart the browser. The update works
Everybody (Canary users) gets this: (error code 3: 0x080040154)? Am I right? In canary build I can't use CTRL+C & CTRL+V. Anyone the same issue?
