I also changed the registry, backing up a version already RETAIL but nothing, there is no way and way to convert the VL version.

Are there any other solutions or is the only one uninstalling and reinstalling?

If multiple licenses are installed, uninstall the unnecessary licenses using slmgr.vbs /upk ID.

Yes I was asking for Office 2019, I have only wrong key before

I managed to enter an Office 2019 key, but I can't activate it. Is the version already converted to Retail or do I have to complete the activation to complete the conversion?
Because I would like it to update itself with the latest updates, which it does not do with the VL version.

Retail license is activated:
a) online using Microsoft server (if activation limit is not reached)
b) offline by telephone / skype
"I can't activate it" => online activation limit is reached => activation offline by telephone / skype
"I can't activate it" You can. Learn it.
I do not give support for illegal Office Retail / MAK / MSDN activation.

Will MS release a VL version of Office 2019??? As I understand it now we install the retail version, then convert it into VL.

The readme's are a little confusing, but once you start doing it, then it becomes obvious. these two scripts are amazing.

I made a nice little folder with VL files on a USB, and it makes for an easy-peasy VL installation.
