I'm not sure, but since I've had office working in the past on this machine, and my license got invalidated when I upgraded from 2016 to 2019 I belive that there must be some residual files or entries from microsoft in a log somewhere that tells office to not get activated. This might even be a bug since it does not seem to be a widespread issue. I'm trying to figure out if there are some deeper system files that have not been removed but I'm not that knowledgable about how to search through those. I have half a mind to completely wipe and re-install macOS at this point to see if that will fix it.
That guide only removes a small portion of the files left by Office on the Mac. This one is much more comprehensive: https :// support.office.com/en-us/article/troubleshoot-office-for-mac-issues-by-completely-uninstalling-before-you-reinstall-ec3aa66e-6a76-451f-9d35-cba2e14e94c0?ui=en-US&rs=en-US&ad=US But even that guide leaves some files. If you force Finder to search system files it will come up with a few more files you can remove. And then, if you log in to all the different accounts on your Mac there are yet more files to remove. But I belive that the Office installer writes to certain Apple files, like "/usr/bin/defaults" and I have no idea how to deal with that. I've tried to go thermonuclear on Office. It just won't activate. As far as I can tell the serializer does not generate the license file. At least I can not find it after I've run it.
Ok, so I can confirm. Re-installing macOS fixed the issue. That means that some file or entry in a plist or something we are not aware of blocked my previous attempts at serializing office. It kinda sucked, but it did work, and now I have a working copy of office.
roc I'm working on mac os high sierra. Can you explain how to reinstall without losing data ?thank you so much
nothing, i tried reinstalling mac os high sierra but nope. installing 16.18 version, then activator -> always asking me credentials
0. Downloaded the Office 2019 from the macadmins.software site which links to the official server download link 1. Downloaded the VL_Serializer which is linked to in this thread 2. Uninstalled the previous installation of Office 2016 VL using the instructions provided by Microsoft for macOS 3. Restarted computer 4. Installed the package from step 0 5. Installed the package from step 1 6. Opened and tested each app from Office 2019 7. No noticeable problems of any sorts and wasn't asked for credentials Your installation has problems.
I am aware this thread is for Office 2019 only. Just want to post for input from others with regard to O365. Is it possible to install O365 and activate without valid monthly subscription. I have installed O365 on 2 workstations (Win 7 and Win 8). Unfortunately when, I open Word it ask to complete the activation using valid corporate or personal email address. I do not have any subscription with MS for O365.
i can t manage...can you contact me in private to check my i am still standing at “sign in”? seems to be activated but still asks for licence. thanks in advance
High sierra 10.13.6. I have exactly the same problem than rockstar57. Serializer 3.0 does not generate com.microsoft.office.licensingV2.plist in library/preferences
@claudx82 Is there any specific reason tos tick with High Sierra? Can you please upgrade to Mojave and retry it?
