[DISCUSSION] Microsoft Office LTSC 2021

To get the O2021 option in YAOCTRI, make sure your office files version is 14026 or later.

 

Can someone tell me how the version installed using "Office Deployment Tool" and using "YAOCTRI" differs in this case ...

1) YAOCTRI using ProPlus2021Retail.img and selecting ProPlus2021Volume (Channel=Monthly) installs version 14326.20454 (the one in the ISO) then updates to version 14729.20260.

2) On the other hand doing it the "official" way using "Office Deployment Tool" downloads and installs version 14332.20216 and does not update any further.

Does anyone know what is going on, does this have to do with using different update channels and is there a way to switch the "official" install to match the other update channel ?

 

ProPlus2021Retail.img have a current update channel (currently at 16.0.14729.20260), YAOCTRI allows you to install the Volume version of Office (directly without license conversion) with the Current update channel.

On the other hand, ODT doesn't allow you to install the Volume version with the current update channel, only Perpetual2021 VL (currently at 16.0.14332.20216).

 

I see the new ODT allow this:

<Updates Enabled="TRUE" UpdatePath="\\Server\Share\" Channel="SemiAnnual" />

where Channel:

• Channel="BetaChannel"
• Channel="CurrentPreview"
• Channel="Current"
• Channel="MonthlyEnterprise"
• Channel="SemiAnnualPreview"
• Channel="SemiAnnual"

But they say default is Current and that would still mean Perpetual2021 VL ?

There is no issue in using this way of Office installation.

 

None of the Office 2021 installations update via Windows Update anymore, but only through C2R Update, is that right ?

Which update channel should I choose in YAOCTRU, Current/Monthly or PerpetualVL2021?

 

Current is good channel.

Reason for appearing the 'Your license isn't genuine' Banner:

The banner is appearing only if O2019 is installed with an update channel other than 'PerpetualVL2019' and activated with KMS.
Some more info:

Officially Office 2019 can only be on the 'PerpetualVL2019' update channel with KMS activation.
We can't change (properly) PerpetualVL2019 to/from other update channels post-installation of the office.
Official .img/.iso file for Office 2019 comes with a current update channel with a Retail license. When activated by the KMS script, it removes the retail license and installs the Volume license in order to KMS activate it. Since the update channel can't be changed to 'PerpetualVL2019' post-installation of the office, MS checks that VL license on the current update channel, which is not officially possible.

But KMS_VL_ALL already applies a very simple trick to deal with the banner. So no issues whatever Office update channel is selected.

 

I removed all unnecessary installation files from ProPlus2021Retail.img and ended up with 1.7 gb size.
I installed via ODT as ProPlus2021Retail then installed the 3 Mondo KMS licenses, and Mondo VL key.
It updated to the newest edition 2112 and gave me the visual refresh, when starting it says Office 365.

Looks good, time will tell if it runs into any issues …

 

well .that's cool but how to remove without affecting the other installation files? or send me the compact file and the way to install ..
