See my messages 370, 373, 375 in this thread. I get the same error like you on the latest versions. Previous versions were OK! I haven't received an answer, so I don't know why this is. Maybe the seperate setup.exe doesn't work anymore with the latest downloadfiles?
Yes it's odd. What was the last version that worked with Windows 8? If we install a version that works, will windows update pull updates to break it in the future?
Hey guys i have acer notebook and i'm planing upgrade to windows 8, but how can i get office 2010 starter from OEM partition, i just contacted acer support they told me that i will lose office 2010 if i upgrade on windows8, any ideas?
Ok wait, i just download your files crazyhavok and start instalation and it will work without serial or anything?
I just tested again (also see my message #370): version 5003 works for me, on W7 and W8, version 5008 doesn't work. I use the same Setup.exe, just replaced the old files with the new files in an iso. I also downloaded the files again, everytime it fails at the last step. Very strange, but I'll stick to 5003 for now. Thanks.
Can't believe my problem was all because I wasn't running as administrator. Latest version now works in Windows 8. Previous versions on Windows 7 worked ok without running as administrator. Odd.
OK, nice that you found a solution. I still can't use it, even when run as admin. Never mind though....
Is SP1 already integrated in latest 6126.5003 version or do we have to download and install SP1 as well?
Do you mean it's not possible to apply the usual official Microsoft updates, e.g. by using "Windows Update" feature?
Correct, Microsoft Update does not affect installation of office click to run. Instead, the update feature is built into the microsoft click to run application manager, which applies them silently, seamlessly, and automatically. Or at least its supposed to, I've never had it work for me.
I have noticed that the more recent installers behave differently, for example some add a description label to the Q: drive. Maybe some could even work on Windows 8 without running as administrator. Has anybody found a place to download the latest versions of the installers like you could from the c2r servers time ago?
Nope haven't come across any, latest en-us version we have access to is dated September 2011 so quite old now but still works for installing at least BTW where have you seen these new changes, on new laptops or just on the web? Anyone recently bought a Windows 7 laptop in the last few months that still has Office Starter on it? A more recent version of SetupConsumerC2ROLW.exe might be located somewhere in %PROGRAMDATA%\Microsoft\OEMOffice14\OStarter\en-us
Is this different than what we are currently seeing?: View attachment 19078 This is from my computer, which I purchased in July of this year. I have setupconsumerc2r.exe and setupconsumerc2rolw.exe, both created on 3/31/2010 with differing hashes.
