I see Microsoft are in the process of changing the download URLs for each file, not sure if it'll eventually break the SetupConsumerC2R.exe online setup file? The new URL many of the files point to is - clickto.dl.msecn.net/ConsumerC2R/en-us/14.0.4763.1000/
Hi everyone, Could you please provide me the SetupConsumerC2ROLW.exe en-US and pt-PT? I searched for the pt-PT version everywhere but I just can find the Brazilian one. Thanks in advance!
Install Office 2010 Starter on Windows 8.1 (Preview) Could someone install Office 2010 Starter successfully on Windows 8.1 Preview? I have now tried it on different ways without success. It seems that there will be necessary a new version of SetupConsumerC2ROLW.exe.
When Windows 8 (6.2) was first released, Office Starter's Descriptor.xml file needed to be updated by Microsoft to allow installation, same thing with Windows 8.1 (6.3) & when it's RTM, Microsoft may update the file it to allow installation on 8.1, still no guarantees though. This is how the current Descriptor.xml looks: <MultiPrereq FailMessage="NoMinOS"> <OS MinVer="6.0" MinSP="1" ProductType="1"/> <OS MinVer="6.1" MinSP="0" ProductType="1"/> <OS MinVer="6.2" MinSP="0" ProductType="1"/> For it to work on 8.1 it would need a new entry: <OS MinVer="6.3" MinSP="0" ProductType="1"/> You can't add it yourself though, setup fails, only Microsoft can add it.
Changing "3B C3 74 3E 3D 00" to "3B C3 EB 3E 3D 00" should disable the digital signature check for the executable. Changing "84 C0 74 10 56 56" to "84 c0 90 90 56 56" should disable the Windows Version check (so you can install it on 8.1). Interestingly enough this also allows installing Office Starter on XP but only Picture Viewer will work since the main applications were compiled explicitly for Vista and above.
Thanks Berny, I will try that. I haven't played around with Starter 2010 for a while because activating 2013 was so easy, but with the new KMSv6, that may not last very long. So I will try Starter 2010 again (also for family/ friends, they only need Word and Excel anyway, hope the adremover also still works). I used to have a nicely working version (14.0.6123.5003, dated 20120719), later versions didn't work for me. So I will try your edits as soon as I get home... Now if I could only remember which hexeditor I should use... EDIT: Remembered the hexeditor: XVI32. Did the edit, installed on Windows 8.1 preview. Word works (also with AdRemover), but Excel errors out: "The program can't start because MSVCR90.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem." EDIT2: Tried installing VC redist packs for 2005/2008/2010, didn't help. So Excel starter doesn't seem to run on 8.1. Tested on 8.0 as well: no problems. EDIT3: Read something about Windows 8 (and probably 8.1) requiring up-to-date version of Office Starter to run. So I guess my 14.0.6123.5003 is too "old". Okay, so I'll try to download a new version (as soon as the new download link are known). EDIT4: Used the downloadtool, installed latest version. Still no go. Sigh... Would be nice to have a 8.0/8.1 compatible version to install on "my clients'" PC's. Personally, I use my own "Office '97 portable" (=18mb worth of files from O97, Word and Excel, been using that every day for 10+ years, never failed me yet, runs on any Windows version).
You have to install the exact version of the VC++ redistributable as the one in Win7/Win8. Try installing the Visual C++ 2008 runtime in both the original and Service Pack versions (those are not cumulative).
Thanks for your tips, I have now found and tried these VC++ distributables: 9.0.30729.17 (4119kb) 9.0.30729.414 (4381kb) 9.0.30729.5677 (4375kb) I still have the error. So you're saying there could be even more versions? How can I check which version I need, and where can I get it? I will try to find out, but if anybody has any tips?
Thanks Berny, will try that later (still at work now...). But do you think this is a "solid" way of running Office Starter on 8.1? As I said, I'm really only testing this in case I want to install starter on other people's PC's. Eg. if they're running Windows 8 now, and receive a "forced" update to 8.1. Of course, they should still be able to run Starter. The way you describe it to me, I "fear" there might be (many) more problems with C dll's in the future? In that case it might not be the "easy" solution (=replacement for KSM v6 Office 2013) I was hoping for.. Thanks for all your help!
hi all, I'm looking for the spanish version of office starter 2010 can someone send me a dorect link to download it? in advance thanks
They will almost certainly fix the problem with a compatibility update (most likely) or by updating Office itself since the product is still supported and was already compatible with Windows 8, we just have to wait.
