Here is another alternative to add the classic start menu... But I dont think there is an option to start straight to desktop or maybe there is. ht tp://startmenux.com/ (Remove the space)
So with this program you can disable Metro at last and use only Start Menu? I'm installing Windows 8 right away! I was against Metro from the beginning. If I get Windws 7 themes and old Menu I can switch to Win8.
OK, but Metro won't be visible? And also what about the right corner. I hate that stuff. It's like from Android or iOS
Once it get direct to your desktop Metro is still there. When you drag the mouse at the right corner Charms Bar will appear for the launch.
Microsoft will go crazy as we are able to disable metro now. This program will be the on top list and most desktop users will install this program first on fresh OS install. Thanks to the developer for this wonderful program.
wonderful news, Version 3.6.0 general release (Aug, 2012): Windows 8 is now officially supported Added more customization settings for the start button Added a setting to disable all Metro hot corners Improved the initial setup of the start menu Added support for split menu buttons Improved the usage of the Aero colorization in skins Fixed some bugs found in the previous version and I expect even more improvements and customization options to this excellent little program in the coming months . Microsoft is going to be pissed when they see so many Windows 8 owners using this instead of Metro.
By looking at Metro, I recall Facebook, which is available on almost every WWW site in Internet. Wanna go to WC? Push 'I Like it', blahh... world is coming to the end.
Now if we could find someway to enable Aero Glass then Win8 would become perfectly usable and remove any remaining reason to stick with Win7, everything else has been solved now.
i am using the wrapper for windows 7 explorer on windows 8. it is really the best option. my windows 8 is like windows 7 now
Yes, MS will not be happy, but that's their fault for forcing this interface on people that don't have touchscreens or tablets, so i don't blame them for using Classic Shell.
With the new release of 3.6 that officially supports 8 RTM the happiness meter of the 'skip-Metro Start Screen' crowd has red-lined. Now it's time say 'Thanks!' with a donation to Ivo — much deserved and will support future development that will help to keep the legacy-desktop destroyers in Redmond at bay.
