The settings are retained, the application does not Just click on the installer and you will be ready to go in 10 seconds.
Do I have to uninstall first or does "click on the installer" take care of that for me? Never done this before..don't want to screw up TIA
Sorry..I think mislead..it's a WIN 10 update..a major one not just a Defender item,; a cummulative update of Win 10...I have already installed Win 10 & WMC..I was worried that a big MS WIN 10 update might break the WMC install..it didn't..I just restarted after the update and WMC is still with me guide and all..
Understood perfectly that. I thought You were talking about updating to the build 10565, doing the usual in place upgrade starting from the the ISO. That doesn't retain the WMC like, so there is nothing to uninstall.
Nope I'm not an Insider..thanx for the responses, however,..I'm learning something every day about what has gone on here..
Question - Possible test. Has anyone tried installing this on a non-media center edition on Windows 8? If so were you able to play protected content without getting the "System Files Modified" message? I saw a few posts back that you could use the files to install media center on Windows 8.1 and figured it might help us flesh out whether this is in fact a codec issue or something else.
I don't think anyone has, the people working on the project don't have any protected content sources so its up to others. I don't have protected content either or I would test it.
Thats's an obvious test, I asked to try that to DavidCT long time ago. AFAIR he got the same problems seen on W10
I got WMC up and running, but when I try to watch live TV it says that there are missing codecs? When I installed WMC as per the directions on this site I was able to scan and it found the channels. But that's as far as I can go... I'd really appreciate help with this....
Does that help with the live TV situation? Does it include the appropriate codecs perhaps. edit: I tried, got an error. I think those instructions are for 32 bit not 64. I posted about it in that thread.
nope, the instructions work on 32 and 64bit. I assume you read it properly and run the command prompt as admin?
Yes mate - exactly as per instructions. Maybe there is some windows setting that needs to be changed from standard BEFORE this process is done? I'm really at a loss and quite annoyed by it all..... ....the world is better due to people on forums like these offering free advice and solutions
