Sorry for little off-topic. Yesterday my Win10 gets some update and whole laptop is a mess... WMC won't load, Firefox crashing every second, graphic driver died and display's background lights went off (like display is working but it's super dark). Some apps and games won't start. I have Asus K52Je which is not supported anymore with new drivers (latest for Win7). Question is: if I'm going to reinstall whole system and it will be stable and running, is there any possibility, that WMC is causing problems? Like I don't fully understand the process WMC is installed via your awesome installator. You know, I mean those manipulation with services, etc. Thanks in advance!
But if I'm not mistaken this will only works when you are connected to a server. How to handle when you have a local machine without any other pc or server, because then there are now local users or groups present.
Disable AreDvdCodecsEnabled I discovered that msmpeg2vdec.dll called AreDvdCodecsEnabled() function in CompPkgSup.dll (on Windows 10). This function seems to query something named Windows State Repository containing informations about Media Playback and DVD codecs state. In order to make AreDvdCodecsEnabled to always return true, patch %SystemRoot%\System32\CompPkgSup.dll (x64) the following way: Code: 995 FF 15 6D 2B 00 00 B8 01 00 00 00 90 9a3 79 05 90 90
Just an FYI, my previous assertions that the protected content hangup was because of the modified system files appears to be wrong. Courtesy of the folks over on the WHS 2011 WMC thread (mainly T-S) I have WMC installed and working with protected content on WHS 2011 with the modified WMC files.
The thing has nothing to do with servers. You need the 20+ Mediacenter Tasks installed and the correct permissions to them. A couple of them are involved on the schduled recording.
Upgraded my 8.1 WMC to 10 this evening, then installed WMC. Installed DVD and set the decoder. Non-copy-protected (pre-recorded and live) play fine, through WMC and WMP. Copy-once live and pre-recorded get the "system files modified" error in WMC. Copy-once pre-recorded shows played through WMP get the error "Windows Media Player cannot play,.... because you do not have the appropriate rights". When I try to play a copy-protected channel, I get an "User Account Control" popup for "ehshell.exe". Time Warner CableCard, Ceton Infinitv 4. I realize this info is nothing new, but thought I'd contribute my findings and setup. Thanks guys for all your hard work on this project! -Mike
Yes is what you should do, is stated everywhere on the thread and on the readme included on the installer. About the scheduled tasks they should be installed by the installer. You have just to check if that actually happened.
Hi guys, thanks for this great thing !! So this is my first post and before i install this, i want to know if any of you have tested it with a DVB-T dongle and can tell me if it's works without any problem as it was in Windows 7 (still my HTPC os 'cos of the build in WMC ) thanks for youre help
So finally EVERYTHING works now, thanks to the instructions and a little help (T-S) Now also scheduled recordings is working and the system is coming out of the sleeping mode. To do this you need to put in the admin local group to take place from the command line just like the instructions in the file “Workarounds.txt” is telling you to do The command “lusrmgr.msc” is not possible because there are no user or local groups present in a normal “stand alone” Windows 10 machine with only one (administrator) account. But luckily the trick from the Workaround file did the trick !! The so called “network service adding to the administrator group” is already taken place and happen with the MediaCenter package (job well done!!) What I do not understand is that I see people telling that 5.1 or 7.1 sound is not working. Those people should install the latest Shark007 version 5.5 Advanced codec pack because then it is working. Just change the settings in the audio tab to whatever your connection is (Toslink/Optical, S/PDIF or HDMI) and change the Exclusive mode from your speaker setup if you want you’re a/V Receiver take fully control of the sound volume. Installing Shark007 without “the crap” I see people telling about is very easy. Just disagree to install them, that’s all. I work with Shark007 for more then 10 years and it has NEVER coast me any problems at all…………
What Is saw with "Set Up Your Speakers" in WMC the selection buttons are grey. So the normal sequence to setup en test the speakers in WMC wasn't possible. Your solution to setup the audio using a codec pack i didn't try. So "Werk aan de winkel" i will try that this weekend.
Good morning everyone! Just wanted to say, thank you very much for your hard work so far! Ive got all open channels working just fine with Verizon Fios CableCard running through my Ceton InfiniTV4 on Windows 10 Pro upgraded from 8.1. DRM channels (FX, HBO) give the "Replaced Files" error, but I am happy that I can at least watch my TV. Looking at the last few posts, it seems that we are close to having everything working as it should. I am patient and excited to see the next update. Please let me know if I can help in any way or test anything. Also, If i can donate to someone, please let me know. Tips from me: If you are using Ceton tuners, install WMC first and then install the lastest Ceton software. For me it asked if I wanted to repair (which I did) and the Ceton diagnostics worked perfectly. Then WMC didnt immediately find the tuners, so I used Ceton to reset discovery and then rediscover the tuners. They then showed no problem in WMC. Since my cablecard was activated from my 8.1 install, I did not have to activate again. Also, MyChannelLogos works like a charm (for those that use it).
