One of those silly questions coming up. Why are you programmers using WMC from Windows 8.1 instead of using WMC from earlier Windows 10 releases. I would have thought the ones from Windows 10 releases that worked would have been more compatable. Just wondering???????????
Of course, fluidity with your media center and remote control works better There is also a windows app but also remote control issues Personally, I have an Amazon Fire Stick and I like that much better. But Netflix in WMC will still be used in another room. Negative is the interface is outdated and you can't switch profiles.
wake up issue at recordings I have installed latest WindowsMediaCenter_6.3.9600.16384_x64_v8.7z on new Windows 10 Home edition. So far everything is working (also MCE update in Germany). Thank you for the great WMC patch! However there is an still issue with programmed recordings. PC does not wake up. I think it is an issue of "Network Service". I wanted to add this service to the according Users and Groups but Windows 10 Home edition does not have the Snap In in the computer management console unfortunatly. In addition I have tried to add the service manually via console command but this did not work either. <net localgroup Administrators "NETWORK SERVICE"/add> Is there any workaround to get still the recording function working on Windows 10 Home edition?
To have WMC to wake up for recordings, you may need to make "NETWORK SERVICE" a member of the administrator group use command prompt as admin and put in this command: for /f "usebackq delims=" %x in (`powershell "(New-Object System.Security.Principal.SecurityIdentifier('S-1-5-32-544')).Translate([System.Security.Principal.NTAccount]).Value.Split([IO.Path]:irectorySeparatorChar)[1]"`) do set "admins=%x" for /f "usebackq delims=" %x in (`powershell "(New-Object System.Security.Principal.SecurityIdentifier('S-1-5-20')).Translate([System.Security.Principal.NTAccount]).Value"`) do set "netsvc=%x" net localgroup %admins% "%netsvc%" /add
I've had the same thing happen to me but I didn't think it was that big enough of an issue to report it as it only happens once in a while and seems to be a common general Windows 10 problem for me anyways...
Yeah, it did not seems to work to place the content for a working 100% I've better could say that this info is in the "Workarounds.txt" that comes with the MediaCenter files............ But the meaning was there
Thanks for the reply, It might just be my setup LOL. If Microsoft dont stuff this up for everyone who loves WMC I will just wait for the next format I do or test PC i chuck together.
First and foremost THANKS to all who have contributed to the development and testing of WMC on Win10! I have two computers running build 10547 and WMC v8.7 through a HD HomeRun Prime with cable card hookup. Here is where the fun starts. Comp1 will not download the Guide but plays all the non-copy protected channels nicely. Comp2 loads the Guide nicely and appears to setup the Cable Card and tuners just fine but will not show a picture or sound, just shows no tuner found after awhile. Yes I have downloaded and installed the DVD Player to both machines. I have uninstalled and gone through the installation a couple of times but with the same result. Just thought I'd share this experience for the novelty involved. Thanks for listening/reading
Hi, Thank's all for porting WMC on Windows 10. All works fine but just 2 bugs: 1 when press speed next 30s on HD recorded TV video crash. 2 When scheduled series not recording. I'm on Win 10 Pro x64 and WindowsMediaCenter_10.0.10134.0v2.1. thank's
Wake up / Recording issue Thank you very much for your solution! Recording issue is solved with that adjustment.
I am running latest WMC WindowsMediaCenter_6.3.9600.16384_x64_v8 and modification for "Network Service". Everything is running fine so far. There is small issue left. When I put PC in Standby Mode S3 or S5 running Live TV stops and TV Guide is shown and PC goes to standby mode S3/S5. This is ok. Question: I've connected VFD display to my HTPC showing current status of media center. At Windows 8.1 the display shows current time and date when PC is in standby mode. At Windows 10 Home 64Bit it shows still the message "Welcome to Media Center". When closing Media Center manually, date and time are shown up. It seems not all "services" of WMC are stopped when PC is set to standby mode. Is there description available what steps are executed at WMC when PC is put in standby mode? e.g. 1. LIVE TV is stopped automatically and TV Guide is shown 2. ???
Hi, I can't install WMC on Windows 10 pro. When run as admin, the cmd is open for a second and close.
Went through most of this thread, been following since Sept, but cannot seem to figure out my issue.. Finally took the plunge and upgraded to Windows 10 Pro x64, installed WMC using the latest build from this thread (one page 1), ran the Digital Cable Advisor successfully, but WMC cannot find the tuners 'No Tuners Found', this is with an HDHomerun Prime with a CableCard (works perfect on all my Windows 7 PCs)...Running the latest HDHR Prime software/firmware and WMC 16382 x64 Any thoughts on how to get the tuners working in WMC? I have reinstalled the HDHR software and rescanned etc. Any help is much appreciated, thanks! PC: AMD 8320 @ 4.4Ghz 8GB DDR3 AMD R9 270X 2GB Video Card Windows 10 x64
Thank's now scheduleds recordings working !! But always video crash when press speed next 30s only on HD recorded TV.
