Well this might be just a fix for my situation/tuner card, first let me tell about my situation: I am using a satellite dish with 4 lnb's and 4 diseqc switches, 2 of the cables from disecq switches go to my pc which has a digital devices dvb/s2 tunercard with seperate cam module, and a tv vlaanderen smartcard for the Belgian scrambled channels. It worked great on windows 8.1 before,(with legal MCE key) i tried windows 10 but couldn't get it to work then so reverted to 8.1; however i have build me a new pc this month and are just setting it up. I ordered a windows 8.1 for the new pc, specially cause i need mediacenter, however windows 8.1 wouldn't accept the legal spare MCE license key i had kept specially for this...i also couldn't buy a new MCE key anymore, so there was no other way then use the files from here. I struggled for some time to get the scrambled channels to play on 8.1 too, until i found out the digital devices drivers install has a tool included named 'DDControlCenter' which lets u see the tuners and cam/smartcard information. So, in that DDControlCenter tool i found checkboxes that enable Alphacrypt on the cam (see attachment) and once i had those 2 checked, and rebooted, live tv works on my scrambled channels. *edit* after that i upgraded to windows 10 and did the same there, and it also works now So i think (this is just a guess though) that the scrambled channels in MCE didn't play because it couldn't adress the cam/smartcard properly
Well alright, but nothing new there because this is very much the "normal" procedure that you have to walk to in every case you work with DigitalDevices tuners. I mean its not something newish........ If you do not set this it will not work. Also you have to use the "older" driver (2.5.3.92) instead of the newer one because there’s a bug in the newer one whit holding these settings in the wright position.
I'm using the 2.6.1.118 driver and no issues so far. I don't recall having to set those checkboxes before on the legal mce setup, could have been checked by default then, not sure, its been a few years
Has anyone come up with guide to add WindowsMediaCenter_6.3.9600.16384 in install.win with the proper dism commands prior to burning new iso
I just tried the latest build with my hdhomerun now all my drm Channels work or Comcast dump drm Run This first WMC_6.3.9600.16384_dism_x64 It failed updated with this WindowsMediaCenter_6.3.9600.16384_x64_v8 over the fail now it all works
No, i'm not. I'm still live outside the US, so simply I can't. But the "academical curiosity" is still there and if I notice something I write it. Aside the specific licensing file, which proved to be "inocent" I'm still sure that your problem is due to a licensing limit rather than a missing/wrong file problem. Other than the mentioned OCUR file, there is a whole OCUR folder, there are four MCsomething kernel protected settings, so I'm sure that w/o patching some files like it was done on other areas you'll never get the Cable Cards working properly.
Please elaborate, are you saying your copy once channels such as HBO/Showtime are now working by installing WMC_6.3.9600.16384_dism_x64, having it failed and then installing v8? Or is DRM different from watching premium channels. If so, where can I find WMC_6.3.9600.16384_dism_x64?
Installed Windows 10 Build 10586 (v1511/th2) in vmware, and installed WindowsMediaCenter_6.3.9600.16384_x64_v8. Installed PlayReady and Lav Filters v0.67 and to my surprise .wtv files played in Media Center and WMP without installing Windows DVD Player app.
I just got done re-installing Windows 7, then upgrading to Windows 10. For some reason, my Windows 10 installation was locked, I could not boot to it. Tried everything. Anyways... Previously, had v2 of the WMC port installed and it was working good. I decided with a brand new installation, that I would try v8. It installed just fine, but when I go to play Live TV, I get the message "Service is unavailable" and that there's no TV signal detected. It then goes on to tell me that the channel could be temporarily off the air. I'm pretty confident that there's nothing wrong w/ my tuner, and that something is wrong w/ WMC. My Tuner is an InfiniTV6 ETH. Any suggestions?
I had the same thing with v8. I uninstalled v8 and installed v7, now all is working fine except DRM content.
Well I managed to get Live TV running, I think I ended up clearing the tuners from the Ceton app, then rediscovering. I'll post back if this ends up being a temporary or permanent fix. I'll find out tonight how well v8 handles a scheduled recording. EDIT: I just checked it, and Live TV still works. I still get the Display Driver Error that @DavidinCT always spoke of, and I've always gotten that. The simple fix for that is to toggle between a window and full screen. I think it has to do with me DisplayPort, as I've "heard" this doesn't happen with HDMI.
Yea, that's your problem. M$ never permitted/allowed Display Port as a HDCP compliant device, even though it can be.
Wow this works! I just recorded HBO West, it shows as copy protected and plays. It always used to get the system files modified error.
So it looks like the fix for protected content is to use the dism install, then install v8 over the top?
I haven't tried the dism method, when I installed Windows 10 Build 10586 (v1511/th2) in vmware, I just used WMC v8 files, but I auto ran Install.cmd via Trusted Installer from OOBE process with WMC files in $oem$ folder, and without DVD Player app .wtv files played.
Yes. At least it worked for me with copy once protected content here in the US. I used the dism online installer and then after that failed install installed v8. So the fix is some new or updated file or setting from the dism install that didn't get cleaned up when it failed.
