I wonder if they're destroying it on purpose with the updates, seems insane, most people using it already had it on their old OS, MS took it away from us even though we own it, I even had Windows 8 and paid for the MCE upgrade! How can they then say i'm not entitled to use it?
Mce was not windows 8.1 home so I think 10 home needs to upgrade to pro because I ran the Same update and nothing happen all was good Mce is for Pro or this en_windows_10_multiple_editions_version_1511
Hi, it will be after the release of 10 to 64 bit updates to operate the system without any problems ?
I don't get this. ehres is part of the WMC package not windows 10. There isn't any point backing up it. In the worst scenario (which is unlikely) just copy it back from the v8/v10 package.
After the update to Build 10586 (November update 1511) I did the same as in the _ReadMe. Uninstaller, _TestRights, Installer and MCE was working again. No problems with Live TV (Ziggo Netherlands).
This is only interesting if you have made any changes to WMC whit the program MCE-Reset-tool because all changes made whit this program are stored in the named ehres.dll file. With MCE-Reset-tool you can make extra menu strips, buttons, change names, replace buttons, change locations and so on. All the info is stored in just this one file. I notice that after the November update and when the update DELETE WMC all import add-ons and other stuff was still in the eHome map. So you do not need to make all changes with MCE-Reset-tool all over again and only replace the stored ehres.dll file and everything looks exactly the same as it was before. ehres.dll file is the complete WMC environment.
Possibly update has reset registry permissions, and WMC could be fixed by re-applying registry permissions only, without uninstalling/re-installing WMC package. If this update, and possible future updates reset registry permissions, then this could be a non stop process, that could possibly be addressed by creating scheduled task to silently re-apply WMC registry permissions on regular basis.
Oke, so there are differences in order what kind of driver you use, because you did not have any problems after re-install the WMC package. Other people, and myself, reported the problem that WMC says “no tuner available” I’m still struggling whit this issue because it’s back again !! For now I don’t know how to fix it. I will go back to previous image and start over and in worst case scenario I will start from scratch to see what happens…………
The update does reset registry permissions, as I had to redo several changes made on another PC that I installed the update on. I had it set to not show Quick Access in the File Explorer and had a custom lock screen installed, both done by editing the registry. These were reset to their defaults when the update was installed. I redid my changes but since I didn't like other parts I removed the update and have since disabled Windows Updates altogether until a better solution is found.
Now I suddenly I can't record TV from the EPG, the start option menu has disappeared, so I can no longer set start time only end time and as a result of that MCE won't start recording, should I uninstall with the uninstall bat file and reinstall with the new installer?
Hi guys, I was using media center remote to launch kodi. Since there are no wmc on windows 10, there is no way to do this hack. What do you recommend to just have this option? I just need that w10 launch something when I press media center button on remote control Thanks.
I am using "WindowsMediaCenter_6.3.9600.16384_x64_v8" and Windows 10 64Bit German location. So far everything works fine except the MS EPG. There is information in MCE that EPG is downloading but under setting in MCE I can only select the EPG data from DVB-S tuner but not for the MS EPG. Is there workaround that I can also select MS EPG beside tuner EPG?
OK, my HBO channel has gone back to the system files modified error again, so it looks like the windows update is not the problem. I'm guessing that whatever change the dism install does that fixed things is only temporary. At least its a step in the right direction.
