OK this is odd. Today, on v8, my recording didn't start until I actually opened WMC. Earlier this week, it didn't start until I woke my PC up after it turned itself off from the default power settings, I switched it so it doesn't turn off, but that obviously didn't fix the problem. Should I uninstall v8, then install v10?
I doubt that will fix his "system files modified error", I've had the same problem on Win-10 Pro with v10.
Never happen to me and my remote works but look at my Hardware not on a half bake laptop or a hdmi stick that it thinks it is a PC
Has anyone had any luck with extenders? I have a 360 as an extender and want to upgrade to Windows 10 but can't do that if extenders are broken
I've got a problem with WMC v8. Sometimes changing menu makes WMC to hang indefinitely; in that case I can see menu transition blocked forever, and I'm unable to close the program. Media Center taskbar icon mouse hover shows a solid black thumbnail. I use HDMI dual monitors on a laptop (primary screen is LCD) and the only way to close Media Center is to switch primary screen to HDMI output (otherwise Media Center stays on top of all others Windows and won't minimize ever) and to kill process in task manager. This problem appears more often since 1511 update.
This leads me to believe you may have a "protected content" issue. Many laptops use Display Port to drive the internal screen and Display Port was never approved by MS to handle protected content, it's not considered HDCP compliant by Media Center. This would explain why switching to HDMI, which is HDCP compliant, makes it start working.
Where do i get WindowsMediaCenter_6.3.9600.16384_x64_v8.7z. I am having the problem of it doesnt want to detect anything anymore
I'm new here, just installed Win 10 today. I installed HDHomeRun (and had to install VLC x32 to get a picture), then installed the package on Page 257 post #2570. Went through the WMC install and it seemed to work well. I got the proper guide installed. But for every channel I get Service Unavailable - No TV signal detected for this channel. Am I missing something? Non-protected TV recordings play back normally from my data drive.
I don't have any protected content. I'm actually forced to switch to HDMI in order to see Windows Desktop area along with its taskbar; otherwise I cannot see anything else than Media Center interface (which is blocked and doesn't respond to mouse/keyboard/remote) or a black-screen Media Center window. In other words switching to HDMI output makes crashed Media Center window to go under taskbar. This is just a convenient way to access task manager. There is another issue: Media Center stops respond when I push fast-forward button for about 7/8 seconds then I push play. It continues the fast-forward.
Mine was working fine for a while now, then after Win 10 1155 my media center also says I need a HDCP compliant video card
This works good, I'm very grateful for it after months of HDHomeRun VIEW. I do have a question though, is there any reason why only some DRM channels work? HBO works for me for example, but showtime/cinemax do not. This is with the firewall totally disabled. Watching specific channels leads to a black screen and eventually a subscription required screen, but they should be working.
Does anyone have a way to patch this version of WMC to have more rows in the EPG and mini-EPG? I think it requires a patched version of Microsoft.MediaCenter.Shell.dll? I used to use MCE Reset Toolbox for this but it doesn't work and crashes with this version. Thanks.
Thanks, I'm aware of that (unsure whether it still works on windows 10) but I'd rather not pay again for more software to do this. Does anyone have a patched version of this they could share?
