You could try to enable also the test signing feature, but at this point I don't have much hope on that.
I faced this on Server 2012 r2. Looks like that the DISM way isn't a good idea after all. Just use the V8 instead of V10
The TESTSIGNING boot configuration option is enabled or disabled through the BCDEdit command. To enable test-signing, use the following BCDEdit command: Bcdedit.exe -set TESTSIGNING ON To disable test-signing, use the following BCDEdit command: Bcdedit.exe -set TESTSIGNING OFF Note After you change the TESTSIGNING boot configuration option, restart the computer for the change to take effect. I'll give it a try.
Running both the commands you suggested..... C:\>bcdedit /set loadoptions DISABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS and C:\>Bcdedit.exe -set TESTSIGNING ON Permit Teamviewer to play a protected DRM channel. Surprise! Surprise! It worked.
Crash, is that a fix? Here is an anomaly, I did the uninstall/ reinstall bit...However the guide data would not load...guess what? All DRM channels/premiums play even after a restart....Weird.
Not sure what it is. First time playing with those toys. It was T-S's suggestion to help TeamViewer to play a protected channel over my network at home. This is similar to the SoftSled idea. So all your channels are working and you just got NO GUIDE? Have you done the hosts file edit yet? If you are on v10, open up the folder where your install files are and click on workaround.txt The host file edit directions are written there.
Do a little research on how to edit a hosts file. Here are the directions. Your Hosts file should look similar to the one in the picture, with the exception that your numbers will be based on your geographic location. If you have Guide data download problems (specially US residents): 1.Open notepad (right click> run as administrator) 2.Open host file ( File>open> c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts) 3.Add this to the end of the file- 2.16.216.176 cdn.epg.tvdownload.microsoft.com and place one of the below ip addresses depending on your location in the US west coast or east coast 65.55.186.113 data.tvdownload.microsoft.com central or southern us 65.55.5.170 data.tvdownload.microsoft.com ex. If you lived on the east coast you would add this to the bottom of the file: 65.55.186.113 data.tvdownload.microsoft.com 2.16.216.176 cdn.epg.tvdownload.microsoft.com 4.Save the file (file>save) 5.Open CMD command prompt (file>search for cmd>right click>run as administrator) 6.Type: ipconfig /flushdns If you type it correctly it should say: "successfully flushed the dns resolver cache." 7.Close Windows Media Center if it is open 8.Start>type "c:\ProgramData\Microsoft\ehome" 9.Delete file "mcepg2-0" and folder "mcepg2-0" this will force you to set up live tv from scratch in WMC (or delete anything named m***.db and the corresponding folder) 10.Open windows media center and go through the Live TV setup and you should now be able to download guide data Well look at that.....I just hit 20...Time to go to the Cigar Bar.
I know how to edit hosts files; I am just curious why without the presence of guide data is everything working as it should !
If you can watch TV, that means the tuner is working. If you can play protected, that means you have everything else set up correctly DRM/PlayReady/Etc. The only thing left which still remains broken is the guide. You are the one that asked for a Virgin.....Time to flip that skirt up again! I just thought of something.....You might want to try the flushdns part first. This might be all you need
Addendum: Channel guide only populates for basic NOT premium though all channels are viewable..strange
I know there's much more complex issues being worked on here and mine is such a tiny tiny little issue, but just incase it got missed when I posted it before, I don't suppose anyone's got any ideas on the above have they please?
Nevermind... Found it... For reference if anyone else has this problem, it was the disable Microsoft Video Decoder setting in Shark codecs that I'd installed.
Go back into WMC's TV Setup section, just after the zipcode part, there should be a list of lineups from your area. Choose a different one. YourCity Digital YourNeighboringCity Digital YourCity OTA YourCity Etc. My guess would be, one of the Digital's will display the protected channels in your guide. I use MyCity Digital
This might not be a very good technical explanation, but I'll give it a try. To simplify my explanation, lets just pretend there is only one channel and one guide data. I believe there are 2 different streams involved. The 1st stream, Live TV is coming in and being displayed just fine for you. If you click on an empty square in the Electronic Program Guide (EPG) and click Record, it will do just that, even if the (EPG) is not populated. So you can watch the stream and record it. The 2nd stream, Guide data, is not populating the (EPG). So you never know what you are recording, unless you record what you are watching. You don't need Guide data for the tuner to work. You need guide data to know what you are scheduling. If your memory is good enough you can schedule a recording in a non populated (EPG). Go to 5 days in the future, click an empty square, and then record, and (I believe) WMC will do just that. The obvious problem with that is that you never know what is being recorded. Where WMC's EPG comes in is that it matches the guide data to the stream of a particular channel so you can see what's on now and in the future. Multiplying this by the 5 or 6 hundred channels we have helps to appreciate the job that the EPG does. That, and, at the present time, WMC is the only (user built) DVR that can put this together for protected channels. BTW, there is usually 3 copies of the same channel in the list of 500 that you get. Remove the 2 copies that you don't need, as well as all the crap you don't watch. (do we really need 20 Shopping Channels) Get yourself a copy of Guide Tool, pay the 5 bucks, and trim your channels down from 500 to 150 and backup your channels. Makes the guide faster, reduces overhead, and next time it blows up editing channels will be one less step for you.
Now only basic guide data populates, not premium at all and this is with and without modified host files. I even returned to a win 7 image where everything would work fine, now the same problem as I just outlined above.
