Based on a single test, it seems that E-AC3 channel can be played through AMD HDMI output. NVIDIA HDMI still crashes Media Center. I will try LAV filters soon.
one idea is: set Tasks-Settings-General-WindowMediaCenterSetup-Speakers to 2.0 A few guys have come out of the PC with just one HDMI to a HDMI Splitter with a decent sink, then line1 to TV and line2 to AVR. Personally, I wanted everything-everywhere and got an HDMI 4X4 Matrix Splitter (cheap 150 US). 4 sources IN, 4 destinations OUT, One of the OUT's goes to the AVR. AVR can hear any of the 4 IN's. (not that I would want it but maybe even hear all 4 at the same time) I tossed all my S/PDIF and OPT cables. Pure HDMI everywhere. Perfect audio sync. Not sure if this is possible, but if you had a good enough sink you could do most of that from within. Maybe I'm dreaming again.
Are you saying with Windows 7 media center you can also view ppv and on demand? Does that work with Windows 8.1 media center? If so, how?
Almost have win 10 working with MC Win 10 pro Ceton infinit quad tuner pcie 3 times fresh install run latest version on win 10 mce patch v10 Everything works even premium channels. Then I reboot Premiums are lost, just basic available and then a "system files for playback have been modified" Again, it works flawlessly before a reboot. Any clues? Thanks!
I'm just getting started with this. On Demand NO, PPV depending on the protection should be viewable. Depending on the protection again, some PPV might even be recordable. WMC 7, 8, 10, should be all the same. CableCard in the Set Top Box (STB), same thing in the tuner, Why Not? I've read reports of guys that ordered PPV with the STB, or over the phone, call the CableCard Department get the authorization codes sent to the CableCard, done. EDIT..... I just called Comcast. They said that if I phone them ahead of time they will authorize a PPV for all three of my CableCards for the same price as ordering for one. She said, their PPV, at least the one I was looking into is Non-Recordable and only watchable once. I want to try pimping it out to TeamViewer. I got the channels into WMC, HDHR-3 doesn't see the channels yet. 0x00 - Copy freely - Content is not copy protected. 0x01 - Copy No More - A copy of the content has already occurred and no more copies are permitted.[2] 0x02 - Copy Once - A recording can be made, but that is it. 0x03 - Copy Never - the content can be recorded and viewed for 90 minutes after transmission, and is not transferable. 0x04 - Content is Copy Once for digital output, but would have Macrovision 7 Day Unlimited restriction applied on the analog outputs. This affects content viewed either on an HDTV with component cabling or on a standard definition TV. It also affects content saved to VCR or DVD when the recorder is connected to an analog output on the DVR. 0x07 - Content is Copy Never for digital content (deleted after 90 minutes) and Macrovision 7 day/24 hour for content recorded from analog channels. Content cannot be transferred via TiVoToGo transfers or MRV, and cannot be saved to VCR or DVD. PPV must be 0x07 I just found the answer to the HDHR-3CC not showing PPV channels even though the channels show in WMC. "Typically PPV channels do not authorize until 30 minutes before an event"
Boot Sector Virus? Problem with original OS before Upgrade? Bad Hard drive? Re-partition? Power Supply?
Tested with 2 hard drives crash. Windows 7 on a third hard drive though not perfect works. Microsoft downloaded image as a fresh install Boot sector virus? Interesting, I always run fdisk and do a fdisk/mbr before installing OS How would I know if I had a boot sector virus? Again win 7 drive after restart is fine. Thanks!
Maybe find a dual boot thread, and get it right, or go straight 10. Obviously the problem is in the boot.
Thank you so much. Just installed this on my vaio tap 21 and now WMC win 10 working great with my hdhr prime cable card tuner. Wishlist: patch for display port not being recognized as hdcp-compliant for the copy once channels.
I didn't know Display Port was not HDCP compliant. When you did reboot GUHO, premiums still show up? What version of win 10? Upgrade, clean install?
Just chiming in with my thanks as well. Running Windows 10 Pro on a HP Microserver as a HTPC. I use a USB Tiny Twin DigitalNow stick as my TV tuner and I live in Melbourne, Australia. I was previously running Windows 8.1 Pro with Media Centre until a couple of months ago. Finally decided to get my HTPC going again and after a lot of reading of this thread and also other options, I decided to stay with Media Centre. I had the usual issues of trying to get the CMD box to stay open and finally decided to do a Reset of the Windows 10 Installation and just keep my data, but blow away everything else. Windows DVD Player was reinstalled automatically by Microsoft, so I just ran the TuestedRights and Installer CMDs and soon had a fully working Media Centre. It found all of my TV channels and I have tested recording out and it works fine. I have read all the warnings about what Microaoft updates do to the install, so I wont be surprised and will be ready when the next update hits. Again, thanks to everyone who got it to this point, this thread makes a great read if you have the patience.
Win 10 Pro clean install. Premiums show up in the guide after reboot. Displayport and Embedded Displayport are HDCP-compliant but not recognized as such by Windows Media Center. This issue is known by Microsoft. As part of the campaign of getting people off WMC, they decided not to fix it. See Microsoft knowledge base article 2392252 (sorry, I am not allowed to post a link yet). Given the impressive amount of knowledge and ability shown by the developers of this patch to get WMC working on W10, perhaps it is not too much a stretch to think they might find a patch so a displayport interface is presented to the windows media components as HDCP-compliant? As it stands, my family cannot watch my son's favorite soccer channel 583 on FIOS on my Vaio Tap 21 because it is marked 'Copy Once'. Same for the Fox channels, also marked as Copy Once. On my old Dell Precision M4300 notebook, I can watch everything because it predates the introduction of Embedded Displayport. I find myself keeping old computers alive because they let me watch all FIOS TV channels. I also have an HP dv8 18.4" giant notebook, which lets me watch all copy once channels.
Hello all, I've installed the ported version of WMC for Windows 10 and it works great! Thank you so much for the effort put into making this work! You guys are rock stars! My current tuner is the Ceton InfiniTV 4 USB and Ceton didn't make drivers for it. I've installed the beta drivers for Windows 8 and their site says that it doesn't work for the InfiniTV 4 USB. The driver actually partially works. It works in the sense that I can watch TV, record, and do all other WMC functions. The problem with the driver is that it just stops working when I am not using WMC. I have to delete it from the device manager and do a scan for hardware changes to reinstall the driver. Then everything starts working again. This doesn't bode well for recordings that are scheduled when you are not actively using the computer. So accepting the fact that I need a new tuner, has anyone here used the HD Home Run Prime or Ceton Infinitv Eth 6 on Windows 10 with the ported WMC? Have you had issues with either? Which one should I go with? I just want one that works and I don't have to mess with it. 3 tuners is sufficient for me, but I would prefer 6. Any input is appreciated. Thanks!!!
Thanks, that hotfix appears to be updated USB drivers for Windows 7. Are you sure this is the fix for Windows 10?
It's probably easier for you to buy a new tuner. I never liked those USB models either. Eth6 is probably too much effort for you. That leaves only hdhr. Zero effort required.
Thanks god here we don't have to mess with those network tuners, but anyway my DVB-T USB tuner works way better with old Vista/7 drivers rather than the ones provided trough WU by microsoft. Never assume that newer=better, automatically.
