So, with v11, is DRM channel staying working or do they fade away and stop working ? Any Progress on Extenders ? Or are we still at connecting for 5 min and dropping ?
Given that delay i think the problem could have two sources. A scheduled task (not necessarily one of the ones under the media center folder) or an online check that, in turn, could be triggered by a scheduled task. So would be worth to check what happens on a PC not connected to internet, and also try to disable any suspect scheduled task in that case the last execution of a scheduled task, as shown inside the task scheduler utility, can be helpful to narrow the suspects list. Keep in mind that isn't just on media center section that a relevant log could be, many WMC errors are shown in the standard logs (system, applications...), there is also a log file under /program data/microsoft/ehome
Just got a update on my htpc once it was done with upgrading i notice i lost wmc and my ds4 app lucky i was able to reinstall no problem.I didn't know it was possible for ms to uninstall your apps now.
I hear what you say, I think we should track it with wireshark. Too much Bourbon tonight lets skip the logs and watch wireshark tonight. Copy of Pcap available tomorrow You want zip? I don't know what format is acceptable. I am recording Wireshark "Right Now" We will see where WMC pukes in the morning.
Any chance of a 32-bit version 11? i just got the 'system files modified' error on my Dell Venue Pro. Otherwise, WMC works great on my tablet. Thanks for all the hard work.
cablevision fix for HD channels related to new choice in Media Center setup. Thanks for info. The issue is actually Cablevision. They disabled the HD channel range on their cable boxes and decided to keep it on their Cable cards. Considering I bought this from them I would have gotten a heads up. No of course. Here's the link and the fix and thank you for pointing me to the right direction. thegreenbutton.tv/forums/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=8909&start=20
Windows 10 updates keep dropping this installation. I've had this version of WMC running like a dream for the past month or so, but in the last 2-3 weeks, it's been wiped twice! I'm guessing Windows 10 updates are doing it. Can it be installed in a different location?
I have v10 working fine for now with HDHR prime on FIOS. Is it worth it to upgrade to v11? What is the quickest procedure? Or do I need to uninstall v10 and install v11? If I do so, do I lose my wmc TV settings such as enabled channels and channel lineup? Thanks.
I had Cablevision working fine with 10 but then my DRM channels would stop working and I am hoping the update to 11 resolves this. If you're working fine I guess you should keep things the way they are. I uninstalled 10 and installed 11
I think that before thinking to analyze the network is worth to test a machine disconnected from the internet to see what happens.
Does anyone have this working (v11) with a HDHomeRun Prime? I'm getting Service Unavailable. It ran through setup just fine but it's not grabbing a tuner. Thanks.
Not sure how to do that with a "Network Tuner" I can disable WiFi easy enough, however I provide internet service to 9 other paying clients in this building. EDIT.....I just thought of something, I can disable WiFi and place Win10 and the tuner on a separate switch, and prevent the switch from getting "out". That should work Huh?
v11 runs just fine. 1 install tuner software 2 run DCA (its up in extra's) 3 run WMC Setup "Custom" and set everything up again (tuner, guide, monitor, speakers) I forgot one..... Service Unavailable usually means CableCard problem. Sometimes power cycle tuner will get it going again.
Well.. using the wrong gateway could be the fastest way, byt you can also block the intended PC trough router's firewall, or block everithing but the network tuner with windows own firewal...
If you have norton follow all the directions given by SiliconDust. This involves undoing all the SSDP and services blocks in the firewall. Also put your HDHR on a fixed IP via a DHCP reservation and add it as a trusted device w/o IPS scanning. Works for me. When I upgraded from v10 to v11 the only difficulty I encountered is that after the installation WMC thought the digital cable adviser wasn't installed. It was missing from the extras lib. So I had to uninstall it via control panel and reinstall via WMC. Other than that, smooth sailing. I wonder if it would be possible to preserve my channel lineup settings. On my Vaio Tap 21 I need to manually disable all the copyonce channels since it has embedded displayport. On my old notebook all DRM channels work. Thanks again for all the work and let's hope v11 lasts a good while. Merry Christmas.
