The tuner is plugged directly into the router and I am connecting via WIFI. I have a seperate DLNA device plugged directly into the router and its unaffected. I previously had WMC on this computer with WIN 8.1 and didn't experience this issue.. no hardware changes since then either. Thank you for the help.
The variables are a lot. MKV is just a container, the codecs can be different. Anyway, isn't worth to scratch our heads on that. No matter what's supported natively LAV filters does support more. There isn't any valid reason to not install them. In the worst (or best) scenario they will not used. In a more normal case they will be used for anything that can't be played by the stock codecs.
You have had a little bit of a software change..... 8.1 to 10....Have you upgraded the WiFI drivers? Not the MS drivers, the one directly from the manufacturer of the WiFI radio. Its not a Surface is it?
I think I installed LAV the first time I ran v10. Shark007 gave me a bit of a lesson a couple weeks ago. There is one box that needs a checkmark.... Show on the taskbar when working....I have never seen my LAV do anything, I guess my stock codecs handle everything so far.
Thanks to all those who made this work. I'm a long-term fan of MCE and don't want to give it up. I have it running on two Win 10 machines, and here in the UK, MCE has always played really well with DVB-T (Freeview). One on machine it appears to be bulletproof. However I've noticed that my main PVR machine - which I put Win 10 onto a couple of days ago - I've seen several missed or late recordings. I've searched this thread; I've also had a look at the various scheduled tasks. These missed recordings have occurred when the machine is already on - it's not a question of it not waking up. For instance two recordings due to start at 9pm didn't, but DID begin when I launched MCE a few minutes later. Looking at the recording history it reports: "Partial recording. Recording began as scheduled at 21:12:12 while the programme was already in progress." I can't see why it would not record - is this a known issue or am I unlucky?
Just uninstalled the LAV codecs, just to test. The second movie I tested wasn't playable trough WMC and the stock codecs. It's an AVI encoded in DIVX5 format with mp3 audio. Same for practically any flv video. Likely we have just different habits on Video formats
I would say the issue is known. 3 or 4 pages on it, in the last 10. Add this cmd from an elevated cmd prompt.
[QUOTE=crash2009; Its not a Surface is it?[/QUOTE I plan to install this on my Surface Pro 4 this weekend with a Ceton Infinitv 6. Are you saying it won't work?
No, I'm saying the Surface WiFI might be tricky with Win10. You might want to spend a little extra time on it prior to WMCv11 The Surface 4 might not even have the same wifi problem as earlier models. Just a friendly "heads up".
It's not a surface its a tower.. The wifi device is a WN111v2 by Netgear. Unfortunately it shows as not supported for WIN10 but works for my internet connection well enough.
Anyway I just noticed that there is a new LAV codecs version (0.67) released just yesterday, something that people here may haven't noticed.
Its almost 2 months old now. LAV Filters 0.67.0 (released 2015/11/15) information taken from the dev page @ doom9 forums, forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=156191
True that. I wouldn't have known about LAV myself if it wasn't for WMC Version 10.0.10134.0v2.1 The Readme told me to use LAV if I got decoder error. Next version I tried was V10 which suggested Shark007. Found out during my meeting with Shark007, that I should "Enable System Tray Icon" so that I would know when Lav is doing something. It's nice to know LAV is there if I need them.
I read that page but for some reason the last 5 wasn't not visible so i got 2015/11/1, and I guessed wrongly that was yesterday, not november. Damn scrambled date formats!
Version 11 has been running very well. Unfortunately Windows 10 had a cumulative update today. Just an FYI if you install it, MediaCenter might get removed. Has there been a workaround to keep MediaCenter intact after updates? Edit: I just did the same update on my desktop pc and media center stayed intact. Strange that it was removed from two laptops so I'm not sure exactly what's going on at this point. An a positive note, a quick reinstall fixed it. All data seem to remain intact.
