This is a known problem. The easiest solution is to put the computer to sleep and then wake it, then WMC will see the HDHomerun. Unfortunately, you have to this every time you restart.

This has nothing to do with WMC's ability or non ability. If you had shut down properly, you wouldn't have this problem. Shutting down properly... Google (release Tuner)... WMC would set up fine.

If HomerunView or Kodi is hanging on to one of the tuners,,,,, WMC will not setup properly, if at all.

Here is an example.....My Prime has 3 green lights on the right, if you read the link I gave you, this means that 3 tuners are streaming.....Well Guess What.... I am the only one here, and I am only watching one, so who is watching the other two. In my case this could be WMC, HomerunView, Emby, or they are Orphaned.

To fix the orphfan problem.....Power Cycle the Prime... and try WMC again. The trick is make sure you have NO green lights on the right hand side of the Prime Box prior to setting up WMC.

Yes, I could have told you that to begin with but you wanted to know how Kodi could be preventing the setup of WMC.

It took some time to replicate your issue on my tuners.

OK, so I power cycled the Prime, and once it comes back up, one of the tuners becomes taken again. I recognize the IP of the machine supposedly using the tuner, but I'm not streaming anything on that machine.

OK, so I verified that no tuners were in use and started live tv setup -> result: tuner not found

I put the machine to sleep and then woke it, started live tv setup -> result: tuner not found

I'm going to try rebooting my machine now.

Run the HDHomeRun Setup (not the config)

on the first screen set BDA Compatibility to "Windows Media Center"

    Apply that

under the advanced page Click "Repair"

Do you have HDHomeRun DVR (view) running on any machine?

If so, you can disable the record engine it in the services or in the Setup by selecting "Do not enable HDHomeRun DVR: on the DVR page.

    1) No, not knowingly. WMC is my DVR.
    2) Do you recall the name of the Service?

So this Orphan Problem (as I have mistakenly named it) could be caused by any machine on the network. What is the correct name for this problem?

    HdHomeRun Record Service

Right click on This PC (from Windows Explorer), Pick Manage, Open Services and Applications. You can click on Column header to sort by Server Name.

I disabled my HdHomeRun Record Service (right click)

    Thanks, good info to know.

I just finished cold booting the tuner. My WMCv11 releases the tuner (whether or not) I click stop first or just X out. This one 192.168.1.132 is OK.

Prior to booting the tuner, 192.168.1.128 was not releasing (it was holding two tuners). I don't remember which one is 128. (there are a bunch of them here) 128 is off-line now and I am working on some other stuff. Router log is only 24 hours-128 was not listed. I will do a walk-around in about 4 hours. 6000 square feet in this building, I will have to go door to door, including the out-buildings. Looks like a nice day for a walk.

I hope I'm posting in the right place, since this concerns running WMC on Windows 10. Anyhow, here goes: Over the past several months, I've had a series of both hardware and software issues, which culminated in my wiping my main hard drive (which I had recently replaced) and installing Windows 8.1 OEM, which I then upgraded to Windows 10. I then downloaded what I guess you'd call "the Italian hack" to get WMC to run under Windows 10. I could never get the program guide information to download successfully. I attempted to uninstall WMC, but it didn't work. I then attempted to re-install WMC, hoping that it would over-write the previous installation files. That, however, only succeeded in corrupting the ehome.exe file (as far as I could tell). All further attempts to uninstall and re-install have resulted in an error message saying, "Media Center Pack already installed." I've thought about simply deleting the ehome directory, but I'm afraid of messing up the entire OS if I do that. I've just downloaded the latest version of the patch archive, but I'm unsure as to how to proceed. HELP!!:confused:

run the Uninstall from the original version you installed, first (make sure its as admin)

Then you can erase the eHome directory under Windows. The installer will completely rebuild a new one.

You will need elevated permissions to erase. Run as Administrator.

Going back to 8.1 doesn't accomplish anything. If you are going to start again. Just reinstall Windows 10. It will pick up the Windows PRO license from your 8.1 version automatically.

You will, of course lose any other applications that have been installed. Try the eHome fix first. That is the quickest solution

The message "Media Center Pack already installed." is from the install script. It will pop that message anytime eHome already exists.

Thanks for the suggestions. So here is what happened.

I rebooted my machine (Windows had some updates queued for install so they installed before the reboot).
Machine came back up and I noticed that WMC was gone (not sure if the updates did this). I reinstalled WMC v11 package.
I went into the HDHomerun GUI and verified the status of the tuners. All tuners were available (nothing was holding on to any of the tuners).
I launched WMC and started the live TV setup. Setup found my CableCard device, but only found 2 tuners whereas it should have found all 3. Either way, proceeded through setup.
I then had a problem with WMC saying that it cannot play back the DRM channels. I relaunched WMC and this problem went away.

So I am back up and running, even though WMC only sees 2 out of the 3 tuners.

I'm not expert on those american things, but maybe you have to use tunersalad to see all the tuners?

Anyway wait for a better backed reply by an user from US.
