The message looks clear, isn't a permission problem Did you use a long path? (we discussed that just few messages earlier) This is clear as well, the services are already in place. Whatever you did you should see them in task manager and service.msc
First of all, you guys are awesome. Thanks for the solution that you have gotten so far. Win10 x64 working with 4 tuners, Channel programming info. All great. I would like to help to get the XBOX360 Extender working. I have two in my house and really missing it. I have done low level programming in the past, use Wireshark pretty well, and have been using WMC for a long time now. Any ideas on where I could start to help everyone on that? Thanks!
Install one Xbox in win10 and see where you end up. I tried the Ceton Echo a few times, got hung on Mcx2Prov. I think it was unable to create an account. I documented most of my attempts in the link in My Signature.
Given the accounts are migrated during an upgrade, would be interesting to see what happens upgrading a W7 WMC (properly configured) to win10. Hopefully the users should be migrated as the WMC config.
No I dont use a long path. At the same Windows on another computer everything works perfectly. But not here.
Yes, I saw that you were trying that. By the way, thanks to the links in your signature -- they helped me know about the latest and greatest. You say to install Xbox in win10: what do you mean by that? To let you know where I am, I have installed v11, along with the workarounds.txt stuff for the EPG, and so everything is working besides the extender. I tried installing the extender and it said that it could not do it, which is what I imagine everyone else is seeing. This is an install from scratch of windows 10, but I do have a full backup of my working win8.1, including the mcx accounts. So, you are thinking it is having trouble creating those accounts? How come? Is it just the fact that they are not there?
Seeing "The specified service already exists.", I would simply run Uninstaller.cmd as an administrator, reboot, and then run Installer.cmd as an administrator again. Not simply logged in on an account that is part of the Administrators group, but also right click on the cmd files and select "Run as administrator". Make sure to use the latest v11 installer that you only see if you are logged in (I can't post a link, but look at Crash2009's signature for link), not the 2.1 installer that is floating around in many blog posts. It's what I did.
I tried to install the Ceton Echo Software in Win10. The first error was my .Net 2.0 , 3.0 and 3.5 was needed. I eliminated that error by installing NET 2, 3, and 3.5 from Win10 Windows Features. This might not be a fact. I may have got the "only works on 7 error twice" The second error was the extender software only works on Win7. This is where I am presently stuck. I need to know how to bypass the "check OS" in the Ceton extender software OR trick Win10 into reporting it is win7 . Not sure if either idea will allow me to proceed. I might try T-S's idea to upgrade from an extender configured Win 7, I think I read somewhere that this works on the XBOX, however there is no display (User Interface) on the extender. For example, the guide is there, you can navigate the channels, but you cant see what channel you have selected. You cant see what you have selected until it starts playing. Getting the User Accounts in there is a start, but I think there is more to it.
I am in the process of trying T-S's suggestion now. Fully configured Win7 WMC with one Ceton Echo tested and working, included in the config. I just went past the "save the files or not" part, I chose save everything. Win10 reports you lose WMC. So we will see how it goes. T-S was correct about the User Account being saved during the upgrade. Win10 asked me to login to my asus account just prior to the last boot. Installing v11, Oh goody, I get the DVD Player. Looks like the HDHR is installed all ready. I guess WMC is next Run Setup Again... Custom... TV Setup.....Here is something New to me..... Applying Previous TVSettings... WMC says Configuration Error Event Viewer says Media Center Extender Found. I'll leave the Event Viewer Open for the night. What do you need to see? Status Update: non DRM Live TV and sound is working DRM channels I get sound for 10 seconds with no video, then Display Driver error. Echo 192.168.1.38 is connected to M4A78PRO Echo 192.168.1.131 is connected to T7500 The Configuration page for 131 is available Now what?
hi You must first uninstall WMC and reboot. Clean with CCleaner or other. update its codecs , as administrator then installed right after Install WIKI
I have just installed Windows 10 and WMC thanks to this thread. I have 2 problems with WMC now though. I live in the UK and have the following setup: Xeon E3 1270 v2 16GB Ram Blacgold BGT3620 Capture Card Silverstone CW03 case with iMon display 1) I cannot download the guide. It says there is a problem with the download. Has anyone in the UK got this to work in Windows 10? 2) I scanned for TV channels and found over 150 but none of them play. It says the tuner card is in use by another application. Finally, I can't see the option to make WMC auto-run at startup. Is the best way to get this working, by adding it to the 'Run' section in the registry? Thanks
the Mega link is broken, and the files.fm and mirrors links infect your computer with viruses. What the heck are you trying to do to us?
