Too much aggravation with T7500, old video card, old monitors, XP 64bit video card driver, etc. Went back to 7 on that one. Will try extender test on an I7. Fresh 7 etc.
Mega links work just fine, both X64 and x36. Using Chrome on Windows 10. Wikimack links are older one, refering to v8.
\wondering if anyone can help me. Finally got windows media center installed but when i click the shortcut or the actual ehshell file nothing happens. i do live in canada so i'm not sure if that's an issue. any suggestions?
Did you upgrade from W7 or W8.x WMC? If so, sometimes happen that the settings aren't properly migrated, blocking the mediacenter In that case just launch the scheduled option and launch the MediaCenterRecoveryTask, than wait few seconds and launch WMC again.
I've had WMC running fine for a week or so but now I get Windows cannot open this problem because it has been prevented by a software restriction policy. Has anyone else had this problem?
Sounds like you have been cought by microsoft Hope not it is an measurement against the WMC trick on windows 10
The versions until v8, which aren't installed via DISM, are just not taken in account in any way during an in place upgrade. With those versions you have just to reinstall the WMC (the settings are retained, no initial setup is needed) The newer versions are installed "properly" via DISM. So the system is aware that WMC is there, hence during the upgrade it tries to "fix" replacing the "corrupted" files (read the patched ones) getting them from windows update. So you need to replace back them manually, or just uninstall WMC and reinstall it. (the uninstaller clears the settings as well, so you have to backup and restore them, or start over with the configuration, or edit the uninstaller to avoid that it clears the settings)
I follow this advice from another posting: TO BACKUP: All you have to do is to stop the WMC services Copy in a safe place the eHome folder in \program data and export the following registry branch HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Media Center If you need to restore just click on the exported registry file, copy back the eHome folder and you're done.
@abbodi Given the above I think could be worth to add a splitted uninstaller batch. A total uninstaller and a program only uninstaller. Should be pretty easy. No code to write, just some code to delete...
I Installed ver 11 and would not work. I uninstalled, rebooted, installed and all is working great. Thanks again for al the help and especially the devs
Given the time it took me to get WMC working with my tv card I think I'll try understanding and changing the software restriction policies.
I just did a 10 Reset, then rebuilt WMC. The order I used once I got to 10 is.... Install all the Win10 updates. Get them out of the way before you start. If the Video card driver doesn't look right deal with that, before you start installing WMC. Install a Zip App. WinRAR works for me. Forget about the DVD player Open an elevated CMD prompt and run net localgroup "administrators" "Network Service" /add 1) Download and install LAV from GitHub version 0.67 boot 2) Download and install Digital Cable Advisor and PlayReady from M$ boot 3) Install your Tuner software. I am using HDHR Prime 3CC, and select setup for WMC. boot 4) Download and install the latest WMC Version. At time of writing the latest was v11.7z from Page 1 of this thread. Read the Readme and the Workaround from the WMC install folder. boot 5)Open WMC and run Setup "Custom" NOT EXPRESS and complete all 4 or 5 steps before you try TV or Guide or anything. In the Library Setup, confirm where all the folders are set to. 6) copy and paste your stuff into the default library folders.
Can you elaborate on this? I do not know what LAV is or what they are for. And is this what you are talking about? github . com/Nevcairiel/LAVFilters/releases
Have a look at your workaround.txt file in the wmc install folder, same place as testrights. filters LAV, SHARK, etc have been suggested for decoder error. Ive been installing LAV as insurance. Not really sure how to describe what they do. you found the right place, the latest version 0.67 I think.
