Thanks just reinstalled it and now working everything seem to be working well bar I can't get it to scan for channels without crashing. It already has 131 channels somehow and live TV is working and as far as I can tell recording is working but when ever I try scanning for channels it stops working. Ive tried running as admin still not working help.

Don't understand how it has the 131 channels that work as it crashes about 2 seconds after trying to scan.

That's harder to figure out, given likely it depends on your tuner type, drivers and location.

I never faced this very kind of problem myself.

But if you detail more, maybe, other users can help you

So is better if you post the build and architecture of windows are you using, the type of tuner, the driver version and your zone.

Would be also interesting to know if other TV programs have the same problem, say mediaportal or something bundled with your tuner.

Working perfectly on a clean install of Windows 10 Pro x64 10586.63 with a TBS6281 dual tuner card.

Picked up all the 100+ Freeview (incl HD) & radio channels.

So it's great that you've all managed to get it working.

I'll have to disable the Windows Update service and maybe Defender too through Group Policy - can't have either of those breaking Media Center.

I always prefer to do a clean install through an image anyway rather than trying to continually defer 2GB+ updates.

Some of the MediaPortal setups on youtube are really impressive, emulators, steam, etc

But for a easy to use, reliable front end - it's hard to beat WMC.

Anyone have issues with Channel Scan not completing?

I'm running 6.3.9600.16384_x64_v11 with a Hauppauge 2250 (8891) for OTA and a Colossus (Original) for DirecTV. Fully patched Windows 10 Pro. on an EVGA Classified 3, X5690, 24GB of ram, EVGA 980 Classified graphics card. This is an aging gamming / media center / personal server combo box.

This set up ran unreliably with an older wmc build, kept only recording half of programs and missing scheduled programs so I decided to try the latest build. Reset windows, updated my Nvidia drivers, installed the tuner card drivers to make sure they where set up correctly. (Have to install them in the correct order or blaster does not work properly.) Configured Blastcfg and the Media Center apps from Hauppauge. Rebooting after each step. Ran the security check and installer with admin level privileges, then ran Media Center set up with Admin privileges. Enhanced playback, Playready, Guide data down set up without issue. Tuner detection was iffy, I had to rerun it several times to get it to detect the correct number of tuners I have, restarting between each attempt. It now has the correct type and number of tuners, but will not complete a channel scan.

I appears to be scanning the OTA channels correctly, then stops at 50%, where I suspect it's supposed to start scanning channels for the Hauppague Colossus set up for DirecTV with local market channels. I did note that the provider selections list was a bit short, but it did include an item for my market, but it wasn't labeled as having my local channels as it has been in the past.

Any ideas what could be causing this issue?

So I've installed WindowsMediaCenter_6.3.9600.16384_x64_v11 on my machine, and everything computer-side seems to work well (aside from the guide, which I didn't even get working on my previous Win 7 setup after the switchover).

However, I have had no luck connecting to an Xbox 360 as an extender. I dropped my firewall completely to see if that was the issue, but to no avail. My previous Win 7 setup was able to connect to it, so the network should also not be an issue (but I did double check to make sure UPnP was enabled on my router). I generally have two things happen when I try and set up an extender. 1) WMC completely locks up and I have to kill it and restart it, or 2) it throws a An error was encounter while configuring your computer for use with this extender. error. When I google that error, I find a link that I can't post because this is my first...but it's the first hit from xbox's support pages.

The two solutions it suggested was to reinstall WMC to fix a corrupted cert and to make sure the Network List service was running and auto-starting. The first was of no help because I just installed it minutes before attempting to connect to the extender. And the second I did try (it was already running, but not auto-starting), but it did not help. So besides the hypothetical "It should work", has anyone actually gotten it to work yet?

Network Service is already in the Admin's group. The command did nothing but confirm that.
Tried the recovery task, that didn't do any good either.
Neither of the software guide editing tools you linked to seem to like Windows 10.
MSN TV guides seems to have the correct lists for my area, along with the same list of lineups that are available for my area. Somehow WMC is not associating the tuner to listings... When it goes to scan there is nothing to scan?

    /sigh

Tempted to try an older build to see if I can get different results, I think there might be something in the latest build that does not like the Hauppauge Colossus. I was hopping that someone else on this board would come along and say whether or not they had any issues or work arounds for that card, as it seems the issue may be with it.

Guide Tool works for sure on my Win10. Try closing WMC first. Guide tool will open it up itself.

I played around with the group policy editor and despite disabling the Media Center disabling settings WMC still wouldn't run. So I backed up, uninstalled and reinstalled.

I had to resetup the TV guide but all is working again now.

    Thanks for the help.

I have the Hauppage card. It took me a while to find the download with the Workarounds.txt file in it. That file was helpful getting the TV setup.

Even then my initial attempt failed because it seems to bypass the tuner card setup and go straight into scanning. Maybe it was when I cancelled out of that that I received the prompts about selecting the card etc. Not exactly sure. Once I selected the 2 tuners on the card the scan proceeded OK.

The suggestions for getting your guide working are included in a file named Workaround.txt

The file is located in the same folder as TestRights and Installer.

What do you get when you try to connect through the Xbox App?

I don't know what to say, that program doesn't do anything for me. All it does it show me what I already know about the situation. All of my OTA channels are assigned to two tuners on the 2250. The Colossus doesn't have a single channel assigned to it. There doesn't seem to be anything in the program that would help resolve the issue that is working. All the functions are greyed out, effectively making it useless.

Trying a bare metal re-install. I can't loose anything by trying it because it's perfectly useless as is right now. o_O

You could click on the button that looks like a pci card (its green and is supposed to represent a tuner), then click on colossas (if it is listed) and assign some channels to it from the Direct TV Lineup. If Colossus is not listed, I would think that means a driver problem.

Also if you had Guide Tool on your Win7 system, and you had paid the 5 bucks to register, you could have backed up your channels in win7 and restored the channels in win10. Registering with the 5 bucks, enables the backup and restore function.
