T-S, would it be possible for you to upload all the files and registry keys needed and a small how to?
It's not done yet, it does not fully work. Give it some time. There is milestones made by a few here (big steps) but, It's not ready for the world yet. Trust me, I want it to work as much if not more than you do (look at the first posts on this thread). My quest is harder, as I have a cablecard tuner with Premium channels. This is the big one
The steps are detailed on post #227 #231 #233 by abbodi and others, try to read them, and ask about what you don't understand
73 downloads and counting. I think it's time to start to report other experiences. Isn't possible that just three person (just one trying also a tuner) had tried practically what happens. Maybe everything is already working and I have just made a stupid mistake, a forgotten file or something like that. We need more tests and eventually more ideas.
I have to get the time and try to put together everything you guys have did. I use WMC to it's full every day, movies, codecs, streaming stuff, tuners with Cablecard and QAM tuners, I was MVP 2010 and 2011..... ETC. You guys moved so quick that I was unable to catch up. Only thing I have done was import the registry files(post #227) that was a few pages back, copied the ehome folder from Widows 7 over to Windows 10 and downloaded your patched files above and dropped them into my 10 with 7 files. The services start but, the interface does not open. I guess I need to create a VM with 10134 on it and rip the files right from there to try again... Or do you guys have a link setup with the files that your working with so we can be all on the same page ? If I get something working with other version of files, does it actually help if we are all on different versions ? Are all the files your using from 10134 ? Or mixed ?
For now I'm using the files taken from the b10134 because I was that handy. TBH It had already some problems more than the previous builds (no listing available from the MS website, and I had to launch it as administrator to configure it) but basically it worked and still works (tried that yesterday on a VM) Anyway grabbing the needed files is pretty easy. Aside that mounting the WIM with dism, the files can be grabbed just using 7zip to open the WIM inside the iso. P.S. nothing useful come out from the alternathe path. That installer did nothing useful on my machines, no services installed nor any sign of successful ehome starting on any version I tried...
Actually I modified build 10135 x64 files. I think you can safely replace Code: E8 xx xx xx xx which calls subroutine 85 C0 which tests result 75 yy which jumps to next instruction if result is not zero by Code: 90 90 90 90 90 which does nothing 90 90 which does nothing EB yy which jumps to next instruction in all cases
I have the 10135 ISO here, that I yanked the WIM out of (power ISO), mounting it seems easy enough. Is there a handy script to pull all the files needed (I saw the list on the past pages and lots of stuff all over the place) ? Or is this a hunt and peck till you find them all ? Reg files from #227, Files from a 10135 build (large list not just %systemroot%\ehome ), patched files from above, what else am I missing ? That installer worked at a time, I think it was looking for a EXACT version of Windows 8 and it did run, I never got to fully test it because WMC was announced and FREE (that window were it was free) for a time, so didn't really need it... I do know it loaded and ran, I did test a QAM tuner on it and I was able to watch live tv but, never scheduled anything or did anything more, as on 8 I was able to get the official version back then....
For the record I just noticed that the translation for "Movies" is wrong. We use "filmati" for generic videos. The ones you can see on theaters are called just Film, here
Here we use "vidéos" for videos, and "Films" in theaters. And theaters are called "cinéma". So, is there a way to add Microsoft MPEG-2 filter on Windows 10????
