I now know why channel 4 HD works in Media Center on my Windows 10 installation and not on my Windows 7 installation. The transponder it uses is DVB-S, not DVB-S2 and once I removed the relevant registry entry, it started working on Windows 7. So, it seems the driver on my Windows 10 installation is ignoring the registry entries and is only 'seeing' DVB-S signals. Now, I have to find out why and I guess that means it is time to start looking for more specific Hauppauge info.
I rebuilt my Windows 7 system, Only connected to directly to the TV for a test. No AVR, No external audio system, Just a single HDMI to a TV, it still does it. If it cant be disabled via a software hack, I am trying to figure out the combo of hardware / software that makes it happen. It affects some people but, not all. If you use extenders, then you might want to hold off a bit (Not working)... but, some interesting things with RDC are coming, so it could be even better
I don't know for sure but maybe you have to have so many posts for that option to appear, don't worry about it.
I have just discovered that the problem was the driver I let Windows install. It started working when I loaded the Hauppauge one. edited much later: I'm not sure if this would affect all software or just Media Center.
A couple years ago, I seem to remember that a Chrome Service was the cause of a similar/same issue. I haven't read about the issue for a long time. I thought it was fixed with newer versions of Chrome. To test if you are effected by this old bug.....have a look through Services, and disable Chrome for a moment.
I think we can safely say..... Live and Recorded TV "Streams Perfectly" on WMCv12 with Graznok's RDP Patch, Aboddi's TestRights commands, and TS's installation and operational assistance, on Win10. The following ScreenCap is 3 Live channels across the top, 2 Recorded TV across the bottom, playing on a Win7, Dell T7500, Quadro FX 3450/4000 with mismatched VGA CRT's. Playing From... I3 Dell Inspiron, Laptop N5040, with an HDHR-3CC Tuner. As usual, DRM will need a bit more work. Initialize tuners needs an adjustment as well. Disengage RDP Sessions needs some work. Thanks Guys! EDIT... I just finished testing RDP from a S4 Samsung Android Phone. I used the Microsoft Remote Desktop App (a.k.a. RD Client) from Google Play. Win10 was given a Static IP. Win10's Static IP was Port Forwarded (3389 with TCP) in the Router. Live TV (with audio) plays fine over 4G LTE on the Phone.
have you tried using ac3filter? there are some tools in there that may help. i dont have much need for RDP, and dont have any extenders... that being said, i can certainly hold off (we have 5 years after all..lol) I was more concerned with odd things like service crashes, series recordings, windows updates replacing files, etc...
I normally use Shark007's codecs, It's install, 3-4 clicks and I have bit-streaming working 100%. In my testing, I had no 3rd party codecs installed. Just Windows 7, SP1 (JUST SP1) and any updates that are directly for WMC. Besides a driver for my Ceton card, nothing else. What options in 3c3filter are you thinking about ? It seem like Windows is detecting a volume change when there is none. I would be completly happy if it could be 100% disabled via a hack. I use HDMI and I will always be using HDMI on that computer, I will NEVER need the volume control. This problem shows up as soon as I install the nvidia driver but, there is no audio system on the system till I install it (the onboard is disabled via the bios). As for Windows 10 WMC being stable, While I tried it, it was rock solid, just like in Windows 7 or 8, Only problem after some updates some people reported that it was removed in a few cases but, just re-install the version you had installed and it keeps all your settings. No problems noticed on the newer builds I have seen.
I'm getting the same (I believe) error when trying to launch WMC. This is an upgrade from 8.1 with WMC. I've run through the uninstall/reinstall several times and removed and re-added .NET components to Windows. WMC recovery task doesn't seem to change anything. Event viewer is showing two entries when trying to launch: Event 1026, .NET Runtime Application: ehshell.exe Framework Version: v4.0.30319 Description: The process was terminated due to an unhandled exception. Does this mean that you started with Win 8.1 and WMC was installed, then you upgraded to Win10. Win10 removed WMC during the upgrade to Win10. And now you have tried to install the MDL version of WMC in Win10?
I have an issue with downloading the guide. I tried the method in the workaround file, and it still fails. Please help! Thanks.
PC does not wake up from sleep with MCE on Win10 I just upgraded my Windows Mediacenter PC from Win8.1 to Win10. Thanks to everybody for the great hints and the easy way go get MCE running on Win 10. Now I encountered a problem that my PC does not wake up from sleep for scheduled recordings which was no problem under Win8.1. I think the reason is that the Task Scheduler is missing the wakeup timer. I really appreciate your help here.
Yes I meant WIndows Media Center. I know that is not officially supported but the community provided a zip file with an installer . Everything works perfectly, but not the auto wake up from sleep.
I don't know about the sleep thing but there will be alot of smart people in here in morning that will help you man.
The 'Community' (MDL) isn't Microsoft!! How could you expect that everything will run like in Windows 8/8.1? A 'tricked' installation, didn't means that ALL should working! At the moment the only (most easy) working around would be, NOT to use Sleep-Mode, just let your computer run in normal mode (set the Power Options Plan to never of) and just switch down your Monitor, That will cut some power consumption, just not as much as going into Sleep Mode!
I finally have everything working on my new mini itx build using windows 10 and v12.7 and the hdhomerun prime as the tuner. The only problem i am having now is i am getting slight video corruption when viewing live tv channels, hdhomerun view works just fine so i don't think this is network issues. The video corruption is slight brightness and darkness of the screen with some vertical black and gray bars every once and a while. mkv's and regular files work just fine.
