Protect content works on the 8.1 but not the 10. Here is what I found in the registry. Can anyone make any sense of it?
Soo close!! I've been following this thread like a hawk, hoping a solution for extenders is found! Exciting times to be a WMC enthusiast.
Now that WMC has been opened up and put into Windows 10, any possibility of fixing the 29/59 bug? I know it is a cable issue, but it would be great if fixed. Maybe if it can ignore the incorrect flag the cable company sends?
Well, if they started ignoring the flags cable companies are sending down, then you would not even be able to watch live TV or record ANY protected content. This is the way they are doing it by keeping files in place that will hold the secure path, it works, if you try to modify that path, it will break it causing all protected content to not work at all. The Only way to fix that is to call your cable company and tell them. Sad to say. I would MUCH rather deal with that, than losing access to all Protected content...
To suppress the high resolution check, the following patch should work (ehshell.dll version 6.1.7601.18968, x64): Code: 0x190729 07 2D 16 2C
Last time I checked, I could see the problem in WMC Debug, however, visually I have never seen the problem on any of my devices.
Yea, that is where I was going with that. Problem might be there but, the hardware has outgrown it. Maybe to the person asking the quesiton, maybe time for a new video card ? :-/
Yeah, that was kinda my point. 411info debug shows the waffling, but i havent actually seen it effect playback in eons... Last time i had any issues with it i was on an Nvidia 9400 IGP.
What am I missing here ? I am on 6.1.7601.1961 (same version for RDP mod) When I go to 0x190729, I don't see 07 or 16.... Kind of a noob here so bear with me... What am I doing wrong or does it not apply to this version of the dll ? Also, the RDP patch for Windows 7, I backed up the original files before running the script to replace them. SO I figured, just drop the unmodified files back in the BIN folder and re-run the script to put the orginal ones back but, this does not change anything. How can I roll back to the original files, I need to test something to confirm something and my only other option is to rebuild.... is there a quick way to get the files back ?
My restore point is gone, only option is to Nuke back to scratch, just to do a quick test ? Crap... Using the version I have due to the RDP patch... Was on the current build we were using for that, and trying to go back to stock if possible. Any other way to restore those files ?
They work the same....Restore points and previous versions work together. If you clear your restore points, previous Versions are gone too. Nope...Oh, well I guess a rebuild is in order...crap... At least I have a CLEAN W7 image with all updates and drivers.. I applied the volume fix to the RDP patch, so after trying that I can see right away.
Maybe the CLEAN is not so CLEAN. Could that be part of the problem with your 7? Grab a blank drive and build NEW. Forget the dual boot. Try a Fresh NEW 7. Example.....Cars is a good analogy. If you are driving along and the OIL LIGHT comes on.....Do we disable the OIL LIGHT or the OIL LIGHT SENDING UNIT, or do we CHECK THE OIL? Disabling the light or the sending unit is the same as patching the volume control or that other thing Graznok helped you with. Fix the PROBLEM not the RESULT of the problem. Definition of insanity is.....doing the same thing over and over...and expecting a different result. Try something different.... I'm not trying to say you are insane, just trying to suggest a different way.
