It doesn't apply to this version. Can you drop the file somewhere so I can make a new patch?

Great, how can I help! I have a spare PC in my basement I could use to test out, here are the specs:

    ATHLON X2 4800+ OC'd 2.6 Ghz
    4GB DDR RAM
    WINDOWS 7 64-BIT
    512 GB SSD (new purchase)
    Nvidia 950 (new purchase)
    Samsung Ln-4041 (older 720p LCD)
    Connected VIA VGA (non-HDCP compliant)

Main HTPC is always on and I have a Ceton InfiniTV 6 Pci-E.

Well you would probably want to do a system image first so that you can always go back to where you are right now. Then take it up to 10 with the free 10 upgrade.

Look in my signature For v11 and refresh your memory for the install process of v11 and v12. The instructions and workarounds are written there. I wrote a pretty good set for v11, then I upgraded to v12. Some of the tasks in v11 helped my v12 install. If you run into a problem there's always somebody here to help.

I am sure this is a REALLY dumb question (I just dont know)but, when I do a search for 0x190789 I do find 07 that I can change to 2D but, how do I find 16 to change to 2C ?

I am using Hex Editor Neo...

This can be confusing. At 0x190789, search 07 2D, replace with 16 2C.

That is a understatenent but, I see it now.

Thanks again. I was thinking I need to change 2 lines. change 07 to 2D and change 16 to 2C.

    I got it now.

    Thanks again !

You guys got the RDP working great!

This appears to be a step towards Extenders Working in Win10.

Any suggestions for Regedit to make DRM channels play longer than 2 seconds. OR....How to determine exactly WHAT is shutting down Live DRM channels after 2 seconds?

Is there a live log I could watch when I test?

Ok, here is a interesting issue. So on my Extender issue (after the RDP patch Extender was not working), I rebuild W7 X64 today. Got everything running, including the Extender, then backed it up. Downloaded WMC7601x64-RDP-patch-V2.7z took the ehshell.dll and modified it with the Volume remove and the patch for "The res is too high". I verified that the file in ehome was 6.1.7601.19061 and the file I edited was the same version.

Ran the 1 click installer (after checking permissions), rebooted the computer, no change, No Animations on WMC over RDP (will not play video over remote desktop). Copied the file from C:\windows\ehome\ehshell.dll and opened it up with Hex Editor Neo, the patches are all in that file but, they are not effecting any change at all.

What gives ? What am I missing ?

Edit: Did the rest of the security updates, rebooted and it appears to be working. Did it from a remote location. Live TV gives a "driver error" but, recorded TV plays back. Will check the Extender and volume/high res errors later today.

    Very strange...

Thanks for everyone's help here to make this possable. Once I get 7 up and running solid, I can share out my Cablecard tuners from my Ceton PCI-E 6 cablecard tuner and I can start really working on testing Windows 10 Media Center again !

    Hi All,

Just wanted to express my profound thanks to everyone here doing all this great work. A long time Media Center user here from all the way back to Vista days who stumbled on this thread today and spent the best part of a day reading it. I now have Windows 10 on my main PC running Media Center with all my tuner cards in it! Also tried the RDP patch and no more annoying warnings when RDPing from work into media center PC. Amazing!

One issue though if I maximise the Media Center window on a machine I'm connected to via RDP even if I'm maximising with no video playing i get a black screen which completely obscures the desktop background and I can't get back unless i sit in front of the machine log in resize and RDP in from another machine. Is this expected behaviour? If so know of any key shortcuts that might get me back?

Also you've managed to tweak mute, volume, RDP and High Res warnings. How about the annoying "There is a problem on your network" message. That comes up for me randomly every once in a while but yet nothing is wrong with my network and everything works fine. Could Graznok find that too?

I have a DVB Link based setup and have borrowed a friends NUC to use as a client with DVB Link Network client setup instead of my Xboxes. Only issue though is when I set stuff to record on the NUC it won't be doing it on the main Media Center PC it does the recordings on the NUC. So close to perfection I can taste it. Is anyone working on a fix for this?

If anyone wants a really great brand new theme sunset theme that i took 2 days to create for windows media center that is pre packaged within the ehres.dll file let me know as I'm hosting it on my website but seeing as this is my first post i can't post links. Its for 6.3.9600.1634 file for x64 bit systems. Message me if you do.

    Best Regards

    Gareth

Yes, that what's happen also with VNC, so that is expected

I can push the windows controls blindly from the rdp client, even in black screen.

Anyway Alt+enter is the shortcut. You can also use Eventfhost + the MCE plugin + the network receiver plugin on the WMC machine and event ghost + the network sender to remote any command via TCP/IP

There are various way to do what, you wan't, or almost what you want. (maybe I miss some of them)

#1 Just switch dvblink to use it's own recorder, and set up the recordings via the web UI or the android app

#2 you can use WHS-2011 on the "server" machine (during the connector installation a wmc addon will be installed on client's wmc. The recording happen locally but will be synced automagically)

#3 you can use a sw able to mount a network share as a local HDD, then client's WMC will record locally but the files will be stored remotely

You can just write the link ad h**p://something.com/something else

    Patch appears to work...

For anyone trying/using the RDP patch, After the RDP patch, Xbox 360 extenders on Windows 7 will no longer connect. So, if your playing with the RDP patch on Windows 10 and are trying to get Extenders to work, it will fail.

I restored pre-patch, so I am going to try to mod just the volume removal and see how that works...

I confirmed it, Had the issue, restored to prev, Confirmed the extender worked, Re-applied the patch (RDP) and tried the extender, No go...

Too bad, nice feature but, Extenders in my home are used more than I would use the RDP feature for watching TV....sigh..(normally I use RDP with WMC just to schedule shows to record)

You are talking Win7 not Win10. Right?

I am asking if anyone has tried an extender (of any brand) in Win10 after the Win10 RDP Patch.

Yea, Windows 7 but, I am sure it will apply the same.

I am going to try to do just the volume fix and copy the files over, to see if the extender works, as a modified file might break the secure channel expected for the 360.

As I understand, No Extenders are working on Windows 10 at this point (or a quick connection and drops). On Windows 7 and 8.1 Extenders DO work, and the patch would break it (at least 7 for sure)

David, have you looked into "How to Enable Multiple Concurrent User in Remote Desktop Windows 7" It involves a HexEdit of Termsrv.dll or the install of something like RDP Wrapper 1.6

Sure, in the past.... and ? I only used T-S's RDP patch and I patched the ehshell.dll with the fixes I needed. After installing this, it broke the 360 extender. I setup my test bed with the Extender working, confirmed before the patch and after the patch, it stopped working.

Something in the ehshell.dll or Microsoft.MediaCenter.UI.dll is causing it...the big question is what ?

I am sure this will effect Windows 10 Extender users (is there any at this point ?)

I'll reply in a bit, I took the original files (ehshell.dll and Microsoft.MediaCenter.UI.dll), modified JUST the ehshell.dll for the VOLUME patch only. So NO RDP patch, I'll find out if it's working or not....
