As I was just reminded, if you look through the more recent pages of the thread, it is detailed as to which posts you can look at to patch up what is currently done. I don't think it's an "easy" process, but if you just can't wait and/or are willing to "tinker", then there seems to be enough info out there to get the ball rolling. I'll give it a go this weekend, probably.
Awesome job getting MC to run on W10! I've been following this thread for a while now too and am anxious to try it myself. MS switched the EPG provider in July and unless you can point to the new one, you'll hang at the download. There is a guide out there to fix it but since my post count is too low I can't include it in my reply. However if you Google "media center won't download guide", you'll see something listed over at blogs.catapultsystems.com that can help you.
For the record I was able to have the live TV also using the DVBlink client, including some HD channels with Dolby Digital audio I had to deregister Code: %windir%\ehome\registermceapp.exe /allusers "%~dp0dvblink_addin.xml" /u if %errorlevel% neq 0 pause And register again Code: %windir%\ehome\registermceapp.exe /allusers "%~dp0dvblink_addin.xml" if %errorlevel% neq 0 pause its addon Something that happens since win8 with the older clients.
Thanks for suggesting this, but I don't know if differenct zip codes work because I'm not even getting an error that WMC can't download the TV settings. I'm going to try installing WMC on a x86 system tomorrow. If that works, that means that some files need to be changed in order to work on x64 systems, or I have made a mistake in installing WMC. Could anyone delve into my .rar file to see if I'm missing something or if I included the wrong files or changed files wrongly?
I'm giving this a go, but I'm stuck here. Can you or someone explain how to do this? Not sure about "TrustedInstall Rights", but I know how to open the command prompt As Administrator.
ok, now that we have some easy to follow directions, as I was starting to assemble things from starting to read from the start, I will stat playing. Should have some time tomorrow. Is there still a problem with PlayReady install ? As I play on going for the gusto in the US as I will be testing with a cablecard tuner and will record DRM recordings to see if they play back. This will be the ultimate test. If play ready does not work, Cablecard will not work.... Crossing fingers on this one, This look all good and I am super happy about the progress here !!! Thanks to all that helped to achieve this ! PS, for anyone who got this to work and got live tv working, where you able to schedule a show to record ? How about an extender ? Got a 360 in the house that you can test this with ?
Awesome!!! thanks sooo much.. I have been following this like hawk.. I can't wait to give this a test run... I have a cable card (Fios) with a HomeRun Prime... crossing fingers it will work!!!
I'm running Windows 10 Pro 64-bit. Do I run wmc.reg or wmc-x64? In case you need this information for reference, here are my specs: CPU - Intel 5960X Mobo - Rampage V Extreme RAM - Corsair DOMINATOR Platinum Series 16GB (4 x 4GB) DDR4 2800MHz GPU - EVGA EVGA GTX980 Superclocked ACX 2.0 4GB GDDR5 256bit
I am very glad to see this! I have zap2it working from an external import (xmltv file) currently. I have been testing this before a full writeup. Now with windows 10 plus alternate sources for guide data media center can stay alive much longer. -Richard
I wasn't getting an error either. Just happened to notice that out of the blue my recordings weren't happening and the guide would no longer download (it just kept saying the download was in process). I started looking around online and found that thread. I followed the instructions and now my recordings are being scheduled again and the guide downloads and updates correctly.
I have no idea how you did it, i've followed the instructions in previous posts, registered all the registry stuff, copied the files across to the folders, ran the batch files and so on and when i try run the shortcut, it just does nothing, my fan spins up in my laptop so I can tell for a short time its working hard but media center never starts. Managed to get it working, i ran all the tasks one by one, then tried again and it worked.
I am getting the same thing... Windows Pro 10 x64... nothing runs when clicking the shortcut... This is a clean install, nothing else... even if I run each task manually still no go... suggestions?
