Well, I guess my post #4006 indicate what my ambition was. But I am not skilled enought to folow MeluvalliĀ“s instructions and do changes in scripts and so forth. Sorry. No problem with installing v12, I just uninstalled 11 accordingly, rebooted twice and installed 12. Launch nicely, but failed trying to connect with 360. Working nicely showing pictures from C:\ and installing DVB-T without problem, also recording nicely.
Not in my case... So, last night I tried that, removed v11, rebooted. Installed V8, rebooted, confirmed that WMC started up. After that I uninstalled it, rebooted again, Made sure %systemroot%\ehome and %Programdata%\Microsoft\Ehome were deleted. Reinstalled v12, No shorcuts are created but, going to eshell.exe in %systemroot%\ehome and double clicking on it does nothing, Not even an hourglass for a second, no pop up crashes or anything. So, Nothing happens when I try to open WMC, v11 works fine but, v12 does not work at all on my machine. Any idea ? It's crashing.... Are you talking about a previous version of Windows with Media Center or a Windows 10 with a previous build of this Media Center? When my v11 just stopped working (wouldn't open, no activity), I ran the v11 uninstaller and installed v12 without issue. For the first time too I was able to pull in guide data (on the third try)! I haven't attempted connecting any of my 360's to it, need to get all the bits and pieces that the other guys have done, but I'm feeling pretty optimistic about this whole thing! Maybe I'll be able to get my DMA 2200 working too.
No, sfc /scannow will check AND fix... Nope, tried, way ahead of you on that one... Not sure now besides Nuking my machine or going to v11.... V11 was working 100% for me so I might have to give up Unless someone else has something else to try, I did uninstall, unRAR it again and re-installed with the SAME RESULT...
Excellent work on V12.7 - works a treat for me. Minor issue - how do I get the little red "led" tray icon to appear when it is recording? Thanks
Recently, someone else mentioned that. In their case the tray icon eventually started working without assistance.
As I said my WMC v12 is working nicely with DVB-T, also the icon for recording is according to the original WMC we are used to from W7P 64. How can I proceed to potentially get the 360 to connect- step by step?
You might want to wait a little bit on that project. There have only been 2 reports of success. Meluvalli and Gareth North. No one has reported any "Side Effects" and there may be some. It is quite possible the 360 project might be included in v13
Did I miss something (always very possible in my life !) ? What is the difference between v12 and v12.7 ? As for my issues with v12 on my Win 10 machine, Other apps got haywire on it and after removing some updates that I think caused it, it still is not any better. With this not working on other issues, I am going to re-build my Windows 10 partition (reset computer option). Just need to some file backups and some list of apps, and I'll try to do it today. Edit: Rebuilt my Windows 10 partition (Reset this PC failed, so formatted and started over), After just updates, I installed V12 with no problem
