The guide works in v11 and v12. Click the v11 or v12 in my signature for the software and discussion of the respective version.
The Italian Blog you're talking about is one of the many sites around the world that parasitized our work, they don't even keep the instructions updated. So do not stop to the first random google link you find, "buy" the knowledge from the source.
I usually do always go to the original source, but when I came across the Italian blog, I didn't realize it wasn't the original source. It took a couple more hours of searching this afternoon (trying to find a fix for my guide problem) that I discovered that this site is where the solution came from. I uninstalled my previous version and installed v12. It appeared to install successfully, but Media Center won't launch. There's just a quick flash and then nothing. Help?
Uninstall v12 with the v12 uninstaller boot Uninstall v10 with the v10 uninstaller (or whatever version you had previously) boot Install v12 starting with TestRights, then in the 2nd window that TestRights opens for you.....Navigate to the v12 install folder and run Installer boot Finally....run WMC and go to Setup/Custom
I had already uninstalled v10 and rebooted. The _Readme.txt file that is in the package says to close the window opened by _TestRights.cmd, so that's the only thing I did differently last time. But now I can't install it at all. I get a DSIM error. Says: "Package error 0x800f0922. Error details in c:\Windows\logs\DISM\dism.log. I looked in the log file, but nothing jumped out at me (though I don't have experience reading this file). Gotta say, I was happier with v10, which worked in all respects but the guide. Wonder if I can get it to install again. I'm worried that it won't, and I've lost Media Center completely now. One other issue... I've read that the guide in Media Center broke because Microsoft switched EPG providers from Zap2It to Rovi, and I've read many complaints about Rovi being inferior (missing channels, poor descriptions). I've also read that the clever open source program EPG Collector can work with Media Center. If I'm running v12 (assuming I can ever get it to run), is there a way to turn off the built-in guide and try out EPG Collector?
I looked in CBS.log, and I got lots of warnings like this - both for this install attempt and previous attempts: Current sub stage percentage lower than last sub stage percentage. [HRESULT = 0x8007000d - ERROR_INVALID_DATA]
I had to reinstall Windows to Install v12. I tried every suggestion out there to no avail. A complete Windows 10 reinstall was the solution.
OMG. That's an awful lot of pain for an upgrade. I reinstalled v10 - quick and easy (thankfully). And I'm going to see how EPG Collector works as a guide. I really like the idea of it. There's a bit of a learning curve and it's a bit of a pain to set up, but people say it's far more accurate and complete that any other guide, and it's the only thing I need that's missing from v10. I can't find any information about how far it goes into the future. I assume it's 2 weeks or so, but I'll soon see.
EPG collector is surely the best solution I've found until now, to upgrade the WMC guide capabilities to the level of Mediaportal and alike. Then a lot depends on your country, the availability of good EIT updates, a lot depends on how you use it (direct injection on WMC's db or as a DVBlink plugin). It depends also on the availability of other sources like xml2wmc (which does'n work in the US, but is great elsewhere) and so on...
I'm in the US. I installed EPG Collector, and I'm immediately confused because none of the configuration options match my situation. I want it to collect OTA channels, and it's not one of the options for North America. Perhaps it's possible to do, but I haven't figured it out yet.
I'm having the same issue after upgrading to the latest beta that came out a week or so ago. I was on the latest 1511 or whatever it is and have no issues through several upgrades with it. I've tried it all and still keep getting the error. Researching pointed at no .net 3.5 but installing that feature had no effect. still the same error.
Does this support media extenders? Xbox360? Also v11 only detected 2 of my 3 HDhomerun tuners. Any thoughts?
According to program's features description So I assume that, if you are on encrypted QAM, you are out of luck on grabbing directly the listings with EPG collector. Anyway it still can be useful to inject and elaborate/merge listigs coming from other sources
I've just discovered that the Nomachine (NX) server/client pairs allows to share the WMC and with it you can get it working even in full screen mode (unlike any other solution I'm aware of). FS isn't perfect on my setup: there are some blinks once a while, but it's still way better than a black square. I tested the client on Windows, Linux and also Android, but there are also the ones for MacOS and IOS The Android client is supposedly meant to be installed on tablets only, so you can't get it on phones trough the store. Nevertheless you can download manually the APK from nomachine's website, and install it on phones. It will work there w/o any major problem. There are a lot of combinations of resolutions and quality options, and possibly some variations depending on VGA divers you have on "server" machine, so your mileage may vary. It's worth a try anyway. P.S. I'm not sure if the RDP patch is required to get it working, given I have it already installed.
Sort of kind of. If you go back maybe 5-10 pages, there is a mod and claiming they got a 360 working. There are some issues but, right out of the box, installing v12 they do not work. There is a lot of nice info on this thread going back 30+ pages, I might suggest reading through a lot of them, and you might be able to get a 360 working with some mods.... Also, make sure your running the newest version, V12 is the newest. As for your HDR tuners, IF WMC detects 2 of them, there is no reason why it should not detect all 3, I would lean back to drivers or HDR software to check it.
