Anyway there are scenarios where the MS codecs arent a viable path. For example on my e4300, mscodescs in HD freezes the PC, possibly because a driver bug, that PC works perfectly with third party codecs. Also the ms (premium) codecs are available just on native WMC windows, in Win 10 with the DVD player installed, and in Windows Home Server 2011(an his less known brother Windows Storage server 2008r2 Essentials). Everithing else has no acces to MS premium codecs, (plain win 8.1, Server 2012, server 2016, and so on)
Yes HDview works but must scan first on a clean never before setup. On a second install of WMC I check HDconfig to cee if the Channel Lineup is populated and if so it seems all is good in 10586.
No offence man, but I think you botched the tuner install. The error 0xc0040597 means 14xxx can see the tuners, and the error even identifys the tuner Identification number, so that means Network Discovery (UPnP) is working. What is not working is ehRecevr is unable to communicate with the tuners. My first thought is that you may have neglected to select the WMC Option during the HDHR Install. I think its called the BDA section where you can customize the driver for WMC or other things. The second thing is you might have to install PlayReady and DCA externally. What I mean by that is download it and install it into 14xxx. Don't rely on Wmc Setup to go get it for you. If you type 0xc0040597 into yahoo there is plenty written on that error. The suggestions point to BDA, DCA, and PlayReady. In my opinion you need to do some reading over at the SiliconDust Site, and get to know your tuner intimately. and 1) Reset WMC back to zero 2) Install DCA and PlayReady externally 3) Upgrade the firmware on the HDHR-3CC (if it is not up to date) 4) Completely UN and RE install the HDHR Software (making sure to select WMC in the BDA section) 5) Then open WMC and run Setup/CUSTOM And then the other thing is maybe the tuner software need to be adjusted for 14xxx. If that is the case somebody needs to report it to SiliconDust.
After two unsuccessful attempts to get v12 working on building 10 pro 10240, Restoring from system image made of my 8.1 and then upgrading again, I decided to give v11 a shot. Installed the first try. All tuners working properly - Using SD HDHR3 All channels working properly, including DRM channels and premium channels. Recorder works perfectly. If it's not broke, don't fix it. I'll stay with v11 until it breaks. I did have one question, with v12 install, is it meant to install over v11? I noticed that the extracted size of v11 was over 250mb. v12 extracted is 78.
1) One thing you will need with v11 is the command in this ScreenCap. Future recordings don't work without it on 10586. Likely same with 10240. Now would be a good time for a system image. 2) I would say v12 was intended or designed to go over v11 as is evident in...post 3360. If you start reading there, a few systems have refused. It depends, I guess. My notes, as well as others, are recorded in the following pages. Not sure if anyone came up with a set of concrete Steps. As I recall I had to "slap it around a bit" to get it to work. Eventually it came together. Reminded me of my first modem install...chasing my tail until it worked, then saying...How did I do that.
Thanks, I remembered reading about that user on a previous post, but I didn't since mine seemed to be working. But it wasn't a future recording just recording one channel while I was watching another. It's also nice to see the true system image backup system back in place that 8.1 removed. I can relate to the modem. I remember I had a similar experience with my first v.flex modem. Thank you for all of your help, you've been great.
On v12 the MCL custom EPG listing grid finally works, especially the mini guide set to 4 rows is a feature that I find very useful. Other than that I don't have any reason to use anything newer than v8.
The modem thing was a long time ago. All I remember was that ISA/Jumpered/manual 03E8, was working fine. Then they dumped ISA and forced us to use PCI. I switched to NIC's shortly after that. I saved a few of those old ISA's for the museum. We should probably get your steps for v11.....while its fresh in your mind....
