guide data Hey guys, this guide has been a lifesaver. I've been working for 2 days trying to get WMC to work on Win 10 and this got me there. The only issue I am having still is that when I input my zip code, I am getting the "Downloadable Guide Not Available". I tried putting in the two lines in the host file but no joy. I searched this thread for "Guide" and tried what I could find but no luck. Any suggestions? Side Note. I downloaded and installed version 12 but when I look at the properties of ehshell it says Version :10.0.10134 Lastly, I haven't made it past the setup screen yet so I hope it doesn't keep happening once i'm done with the setup but if I let it sit on the setup screen for a bit not doing anything then come back to it, it's froze up and CTRL+Alt+Del turns the screen black and I have to hard reset the PC
First of all there is a sticky thread for that, just ask there Second no, clearly you didn't install the v12. V12 is based on win 8.1 wmc, and has the guide working, yours is based on W10 beta and the guide never worked there
hi all Finally upgraded my old aurora to windows 10. was trying to install what I think is the latest build. I am running windows 10 preview build all up to date. When running the installer after the test rights as administrator I get the generic 0x800F0922 error. I have plenty of room so not that. Any idea what may be wrong? thanks
I must be doing something wrong then. I downloaded the installer for v12. I originally had version 2.1 installed so I used the uninstaller that came with it. Then I used the uninstaller for v12 just to make sure. When I reinstalled it after reboot using the v12 installer, that's the version it showed. Here's a tiny bit more insight on it. I first installed v2.1 and then saw v12 so I uninstalled then reinstalled and it errored a lot so I uninstalled hdhomerun and rand the .net repair and restarted and it let me install v12. BUT when I clicked the media center icon or even the ehshell icon in the ehome folder it never started up. The ehrecvr.exe shows up in task manager but media center never started. So I ended up doing a system restore. When it came back up, the old version was there and runs but no guide data. That's when I followed the process above. Uninstalled, reboot, install v12 and it shows v10. I'm guessing I can uninstall then manually clear out anything remaining but im worried that I won't be able to run Media Center if I do get things installed with ver12. Thought?
In v12, I got an AppCrash in the event viewer. In v11, I'm getting 'Tuner Not Found'. I had it working last week in an older package, but some update went through, and it quit working. Then I tried to see if I would like NextPVR. Nope, that is more trouble than its worth try to get guide data. I'm so stuck, and wishing I never upgraded at this point. I was happy for one day. Can we hurl some more hate at Microsoft. In the meantime.. let's get to package version 13 that works.
strange, couldn't get it to work. when I play recordings from when i recorded on previous WMC installation in windows 8.1 surround works fine.
1) the type of computer should not matter. 2) What is the name of the WMC install file? the complete number please. 3) type winver into Cortana. What Version are you using? 4) the fix for 0x800F0922 is posted here 5 times/week. Turn back the pages a couple weeks and start reading. 5) You didn't read the manual. To get started with that now, click on the v12 in my signature. More troubleshooting help is included in Readme.txt and Workaround.txt which is stored inside your WMC installation folder.
yes thanks , i have changed to 5.1 and stereo but still no joy. films in VLC work fine, it's just in WMC that surround wont work. there used to be a sound configuration in wmc but not there in this build. i think i am missing a setting in shark's codecs. any help greatly appreciated. thanks
Anyone see if KB3147458 has any impact on WMC? I turned off the previous mentioned cumulative updates, but i'm guessing this one would have the same impact. If it's a new number should we update that post?
The Windows Control Panel setting works best set to stereo. Did you also select the [x] SUGGESTED settings checkbox? (this should always be selected) As long as you're not in the USA, you could try this setting, [x] disable Microsoft's Video decoder on the SWAP TAB I know that you're trying to solve an audio issue but disabling the video decoder forces LAV into the decoding process.
WMC is still working on on W10 b14332 and Server 2016 tp5 b14300, hardly an update to TH2 will break something. In the worst (unlikely) scenario you'll have to uninstall and reinstall the WMC.
ok thanks, I'm just concerned as I use it for the xbox extender features and it seems that was especially finicky =)
If you want to be 100% safe just do an image of the os, before updating, a restore point should be enough, but an image is the safest way.
thanks, i did as you suggested and now getting sound from all speakers, but is not in surround. ie. same sound coming through each speaker. thanks for your help so far,
Almost all TV is stereo and your AVR may be set to expand stereo to all speakers. (giving you the same sound in all speakers) To know what is in the actual recording, there is a button on the Misc TAB, [Analyze a media file] which will tell you the exact contents, including the speaker count of any type of media file.
