I ended up going to V8 and then I was having problems people were having on V9 on V8. Trying to start live tv. One more back to v7, where I started which seems to be working fine. I think my issue is that I can't update my Windows version from 10240 because I have the Education build. I have to see if I can get the updated ISO but I think its only accessible by dreamspark/onthehub channels.
Easy successful install of v12 on Windows 10 10586.318 Many thanks to @abbodi1406 & @crash2009 for all their efforts in this thread. Only after knowing that Media Centre was still possible on Windows 10, thanks to these and other folks hard work, did I do an in place upgrade from Windows 8.1 with Media Center to Windows 10, arriving on 10586.318 current latest public release version. My previously installed Internal PCI UK Freeview TV Tuner drivers were still installed after the upgrade so, after making sure that Windows 10 was finished with initial OS and Apps downloads, I downloaded and extracted the correct v12 installer from @abbodi1406's post on Page 336 of this thread (forums.mydigitallife.net/threads/61061-DISCUSSION-Patch-WMC-to-run-on-Windows-10-final-amp-possible-alternatives/page336?p=1200602&viewfull=1#post1200602) to a short path of C:\WMC64 (as I downloaded the '_x64_' package for my 64bit OS) I then just opened the _ReadMe.txt and followed the simple step by step instructions Ran Uninstaller.cmd as administrator Rebooted the OS as instructed Ran _TestRights.cmd script as administrator Ran Installer.cmd as administrator Rebooted just to be safe I then simply found Windows Media Center was back from Cortana 'media' app search and everything just started and live TV immediately player, guide was present! (Apparently it had kept some configuration from my upgraded 8.1 install as I didn't have to go through MCE initial setup) Not yet tried Xbox 360 Media Centre Extender setup, but believe this requires a bit more addition work, but is also documented on this forum if not this thread. I've done this upgrade on an old copy of my 8.1 OS that's on a retiring SSD drive I have, so probably will now go back to run on 8.1 for my Media Center PC just in case coming Windows 10 Redstone/Anniversary Update breaks MCE, but meantime this has meant my Media PC now has 'digital entitlement' to Windows 10 for if/when I decided to permanently update to Windows 10 (if MCE not broken by Anniversary or I've not migrated to some other Live TV + Extenders solution) Thank you again to all that have contributed to this great thread For those interested in trying to get Xbox 360 Extenders working I can confirm that this doesn't work with v12 out of the box, but @meluvalli posted on Page 395 of this thread (forums.mydigitallife.net/threads/61061-DISCUSSION-Patch-WMC-to-run-on-Windows-10-final-amp-possible-alternatives/page395?p=1209614&viewfull=1#post1209614) that it IS possible, but requires 1x change to v12 install files before initial MCE install and then some other setup and fix steps.
wmc for win 10 The version of wmc ( WindowsMediaCenter_10.0.10134.0v2.1 (1).rar) is not working on my PC. Are there any other "newer" version, and if there is can anybody tell me the path ? toch
I have an unusual problem with v12 on win10. I have recordings scheduled, when the time comes it asks if it can change channel to record, i say yes, the change doesn't happen and mce appears to lock up but still has the sound. The mouse pointer goes away so I can't quit mce. Then if i put the machine to sleep it will wake up again in about 1 minute, then every time i sleep it, it wakes up again after 1 minute. i do a powercfg /lastwake and it tells me ehrec.exe is whats waking the pc. any ideas how to resolve it?
sounds similar to a recording conflict.....WMC asks you if she can take the tuner you are using to watch live TV with, but for some reason, she doesn't take it after you say OK. It appears WMC is unable to take the tuner from the audio. My only suggestion is get more tuners or reduce scheduled recordings....There has got to be a better way. Anyone else?
one might think that, but i've never had a problem in win8.1 mce, its just once i installed windows 10, it's not an upgrade install either, i did the upgrade, then refreshed then installed v12. I haven't put the network service as administrator yet, would that make a difference do you think? I was avoiding doing that for obvious reasons.
I found some more switches. Still nothing for Movies, however, if our movies are stored in the video folder, there is a switch for that. Code: %SystemRoot%\ehome\ehshell.exe /nostartupanimation /homepage:VideoFullscreen.xml /pushstartpage:true List of the various Media Center command-line switches For the shortcut to Media Center, various command-line switches can be used. Install v8, uninstall v8, reboot, check for the ehome folder, if it has still some files inside delete them, install V12.
I have tried everything imaginable which has been suggested, but I have found the only way to install v12 is after a clean Windows install. It would be really cool if the installer could be fixed to I could install after an upgrade. All other versions install fine, just not 12.
