Well I left my computer on last night to record something, when I woke up today it said it had updated. When I got home from work, WMC was gone, Tried to un/reinstall and install says completed but when I try to run ehome nothing happens and event viewer shows 2 errors Code: - <Event xmlns=" schemas.microsoft. com/win/2004/08/events/event"> - <System> <Provider Name=".NET Runtime" /> <EventID Qualifiers="0">1026</EventID> <Level>2</Level> <Task>0</Task> <Keywords>0x80000000000000</Keywords> <TimeCreated SystemTime="2016-05-18T21:09:35.881903200Z" /> <EventRecordID>526</EventRecordID> <Channel>Application</Channel> <Computer>Fudsey-PC2</Computer> <Security /> </System> - <EventData> <Data>Application: ehshell.exe Framework Version: v4.0.30319 Description: The process was terminated due to an unhandled exception. Read the Readme in your installation folder. Line 3 says use a short path.... - Extract the file to a directory with short spaceless path (example: C:\WMC) to avoid troubles Read Workaround.txt while you are in there...
Hoping someone can help me (couldn't find an answer here, but there are lots of pages to parse through!). I have v12 installed, and I'm able to successfully install PlayReady and DCA. I am unable to set up Live TV at all though. It keeps acting as though I don't have the HDHomerun Prime drivers installed (which I do). I first tried the newest HDHomerun DVR beta drivers from this month, and also I tried the supported version from August. Still no good. I tried the reboot and sleep/wake Workaround, but that didn't do it. I'd love any help you fine folks could afford me. Thanks!
WMC Windows 10 and Extender 360 - status update Anyone who can tell where we are in this matter - I only read inputs about install and uninstall versions of WMC...my version 12 is running perfectly and is waiting for v13? Keep on winding
Turns out there was much much more to this event than previously thought. I lost my sound card, video drivers and WMC all at the same time. I think I have more issues than just WMC right now. Video drivers have been fixed and I removed sound card and enabled on-board sound for now. I had to run SFC /Scannow to fix the vid drivers problem and the only way to fix the sound card was to remove it completely. I thought I had turned off auto updates...? Guess not... I ran that script in powershell and now trying to decipher what the update actually did
Crash, thank you for the nudge! I hadn't realized that the firewall had been switched on (or really, always was on) in the domain profile, which applies now that I joined this living room PC to my lab domain! I was able to run all of the pieces in WMC "normally", including pulling the program guide and specifying a recording location. Also, with the help of the Shark007 pack, I am now able to watch any Copy Freely items, even ones I previously recorded on the 8.1 image I had on this PC a couple of days ago (when launching WMC, sometimes I'll have to minimize/maximize to get playback to fire right away, but no huge dealbreaker at the moment). All great stuff! The last piece is the dreaded DRM from Time Warner. Nearly all of my channels are Copy Once, and I am getting a pretty on-the-nose error "Copy Prohibited - the broadcaster prohibits this content from being copied..." I am not attempting to record (yet) or copy (never), though - just trying to play back live TV on one of the many DRM channels. I tried to sift through this forum, but TBH it is getting pretty dense and searches aren't yielding too many answers (I tried the SFC /SCANNOW command, but it didn't help). Any recommendations? Everything else seems to be working great, but this is naturally a dealbreaker with well over 95% of my content being Copy Once. Thanks to you and everyone for your assistance!
Doublecheck the WMC version you are on. DRM has been working for me since v11 What is the exact number of the install file?
I can get more exact information when I get home, but I downloaded v12 and installed that, thinking I would need the most recent one.
Hi crash2009, I'm new to this board and have been trying to catch up on the posts in this thread. Could you please tell me, with v12 running on Windows 10, which extenders, if any, currently work? I have a couple of XBOX360s and a Linksys. Thank you!
Probably your computer (laptop) has DisplayPort so WMC does not recognize its HDCP capability. If you are having this trouble on a PC connected to a TV via HDMI then I do not know what the solution might be. We have to wait for someone to invent a patch to WMC that lets it recognize DisplayPort as HDCP-capable (which it is!). I also cannot play back any DRM channels on my newer laptops & allinones. I use PowerDVD15 which can do it over DTCP-IP.
So, after that total fiasco, I am running again but..... I cannot install a running version of 12. Every installation says "Successful" but only installs about 6 files into ehome folder. I went back and reinstalled 11 and it works? maybe.... Not downloading TV Setup Data during TV Setup. Any ideas? Already checked host file and firewall.
I've been using 360 extenders, you'll have to look for a few posts in here for some edits that are required to the install.bat within the v12 and some other pre-reqs. Also, be careful as it doesn't like to work after some win updates =) Search this thread for the details. Many posts about cleaning up to install new version, but it's something like: uninstall 11, install v8, uninstall v8 reboot sfc /scannow install v12
I have 11 running but it will not connect to start the TV Setup. I am running another install on a laptop and it works great. This is something else. Almost like firewall is blocking the connection, but it is on the exception list. I tried running mcupdate.exe as Workarounds.txt file states. But I am at a lost. I have uninstalled 11 and reinstalled it several time. I will try the v8 install/uninstall and see if that fixes my issue.
I find one of the pains of Windows 10 is its automatic update of drivers. Many times it takes perfectly good drivers (especially OEM drivers), and replaces them with drivers that just don't work. Its a real pain, so look here so see if that is the case
Hi Crash, Here is the version you are looking for (I think): WMC_6.3.9600.16384_x64_v12 Did I pull the right one?
Guho, I'm actually running over VGA, just to avoid the handshake issues typically associated with HDMI (I run through an A/V receiver, and sometimes the handshake wouldn't be so great in the past - VGA has always been super-reliable for this and my TV has a VGA-in).
