Can you tell me if with the shark codec pack you are able to FFW and RWD all mkv and mp4 files in Media center?
as was mentioned previously v2.1 is old as the hills. click on the v12 in my signature, read the first 30-40 pages as well as the readme and workaround files in your WMC install folder. Most of the install complications have been discovered and fixed.
Help. I tried installing last year and had problems. So I waited until the TV season was over to try again installing WMC. Was running Windows 7 and WMC worked great. Installed Windows 10 yesterday and also the DISM from here. Now WMC will not open. Checked local services and both WMC receiver (ehRecvr) and scheduler (ehSched) were not started. Tried starting and they will not start. error <Failed to Read Description. Error Code: 15100 > - Did some research and set both services to "local system account" with "allow service to interact with desktop" checked. This does not help. So need someone to tell me what to do. Have read Workarounds.txt and nothing in there. Have searched this forum and nothing obvious to me. Oh, and I have gone thru an uninstall and reinstall and that did not help.
And which version are you trying to run.....What is the file name of your WMC.7zip? What is your winver?
When I searched the numbers that you gave me, it came up as a version of windows that I am unfamiliar with. Now that you added the .318, I can plainly see you have a 7-10 upgrade. Not sure if it will make a difference but try running WMC as administrator
ok, nevermind - Did sfc/scannow and that fixed the problem. The readme.txt file should be updated to make it clear this is a step to do after installing. - not just a note:
Yes, and it should be mandatory to read the readme and the workaround prior to downloading the WMC software.
And yes, I have read them both many times and still did not see it. See the following and note how SFC is hidden in the note: Installation: 1) Run _TestRights.cmd script as administrator if another command prompt window is opened, then close it and proceed to step 2) if no cmd window opened, try again one or two more times if still no cmd windows opened, then you need to reboot the system and test again. 2) Run the outer Installer.cmd script as administrator to install the pack =============================================================================== Note: You may get some integrity errors which you can ignore (due the patched files, emulated dism package) this includes: sfc /SCANNOW Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth"
Technical preview? 10586 is the plain 1511/th2. And BTW WMC worked practically In any build from 10240 to the actual 14352
The file workaround is called workaround for a reason. You need to take some actions described in it IF you encounter some problems. Usually, on problem free W10 launching the installer is all you have to do.
Hi. I have a new windows 10 machine. I've been trying to install version 12 but cannot get either the testrights or the installer to run. I downloaded the folder and unzipped it using 7zip. I copied the file directly my c drive to simplify the path. I have tried opening both files using administrator privileges. I also ran sfc scannow. I'm sure I'm missing a simple step, but I cannot find the solution in the forum. Could some suggest a fix or point me in the right direction?
