I have installed the latest wmc patch onto my windows 10 home version pc. When I click on the the WMC icon I get a software restriction policy message and the program will not open. I've tried running sfc /SCANNOW, Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth, and Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth. I have also tried to open the program using administrator mode. Has anyone encountered this issue and found a solution? Thanks in advance for any assistance
I also have had no luck setting up the Prime in build 14352. For now I'm set to defer upgrades on my other machines to prevent the Anniversary update in July. That will give SiliconDust another year to sort out their DVR. When I go to regedit and look at HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Media Center, I can see the tuners listed but they don't have all of the completed settings of a successful tv signal setup. Also, no errors at all in Event Viewer.
Extract the files within your wmc.7zip to c:\wmc Review the readme to accomplish that and it is explained more thoroughly a couple posts up
Yup, same thing I've found in Event Viewer. I have compared Reg settings in 10586 and 14352 and tried to patch the 14352 but so far no luck. I'm curious as to how long MS will allow us to continue the 10586.xxx build after the new release comes out. At least I've still got 7 pro and 8.1 pro protected from update to 10.
In 10 Pro, selecting defer upgrades gets you four months which can be extended another eight months in the group policy editor. For Home users hopefully a registry edit will work. I've also noticed a couple of files, that are media center related, missing from the windows system32 folder on build 14352 that are on my 10586. MCEWMDRMNDBootstrap.dll says its part of Playready, but not installed when I installed playready. msdri.dll Microsoft Digital Receiver Interface Class Driver I don't know if they are part of the problem or what other files are missing. Also mcxdriv.dll is missing, I don't know what effect that'll have on extenders.
probably you have something that blocks nsudo to run properly, try if the testright from v8 works (it's based on a different program) If it works just launch the v12 installer from that command prompt.
"Windows cannot open this program because it has been prevented by a software restriction policy. For more information contact your system administrator." I did have some issues trying to install this initially. I couldn't get the installer program to open. Out of frustration I tried unzipping the patch with a different unzip program and that worked. Is it possible that this is the result of remnants from my earlier install attempts? Unless you have a better idea, I was thinking I'd use the included uninstaller command and start over.
Thank you for being willing to help me. I have to admit mea culpa for that. However it did not fix it, but I was frustrated enough to just reset windows and then install it and viola! It works perfectly. I am not sure if it was all the other junk I had tried previously (not just WMC, but Kodi and other options), but thankfully it is working now and I just need to reinstall some other programs.. I am a bit leery of installing addins (I used to have media browser for all my movies on the NAS), but I may try later after backing everything up. Anyway happy to have guide working and so forth now.
v8 is available from the link in my signature. Make sure you UN-CHECK Download with Secured Download manager
crash2009 you are magic! I will try this over the week as someone on newly upgraded Win 7 > Win 10 german copy had that exact error message but in german. As I am totally new to this it wasn't quite obvious that I would also need LAV, DCA, PlayReady so thank you very much!!! Your work is highly appreciated! There seem to be quite a few users out there with Monitor PCs that have tuners inside of them.
I had a previous version installed and used the uninstaller included in the latest package to remove it. Everything went as planned, as the processes were all successful. Installed the new package following the readme and all succeeded. Rebooted windows, attempted to open up Media Center but nothing. No errors or anything. I get the little spinning wheel next to the cursor for a few seconds like its trying to open it up but nothing happens. Running windows 10 pro.
Most likely ..short path, v8, and SFC... will get you going in the correct direction. Same for you underflip.
1. I installed Windows 10 Pro 64-bit. 2. It found my Ceton Infinitv 4 USB tuner but didn't have the drivers. I downloaded the Windows 8 drivers ceton_infinitv_setup_w8_13_06_03_1088 from the Ceton website and installed them. Ran the Ceton Diagnostics program and everything was fine. 3. Using v12 file you have posted here, I had already extracted the file so I just copied the WMC64 folder to my Windows 10 desktop. I opened up a cmd window, went to the WMC64 folder then ran _TestRights.cmd which opened up another cmd prompt window which I closed then ran Installer.cmd just as stated in the _Readme.txt. No problems. 4. I used the windows search window and typed windows and it listed "Windows Media Center" which I right clicked and selected to pin to taskbar. 5. I clicked on the Windows Media Center task bar icon then it launched and I easily went through all the setup windows and it even downloaded the tv guide. The Windows Media Center update icon was shown on the tray and had to wait til it was done downloading the guide. Once done, I was able to click on any channel on the guide and start watching TV! I even scheduled a recording and it started recording at that time. Only problem is that when you are recording, the tray does not show the red recording icon. Anyone else have that red recording icon showing on your tray? Other than that...wow! Thanks for EASILY making my Ceton Infinitv 4 USB work on Windows 10 Pro. 64bit! Oh yeah. This is my first post. Update: I rebooted and scheduled a recording. The recording icon now shows on the tray.
Schedule a recording for the middle of the night say 3 a.m., or even an hour from now. put your computer to sleep see if it wakes up does the recording and then goes back to sleep
