Surely some unix server did it.

In unix the \ character is used to protect the following one from being interpreted from the shell.

For example if you want to name a file as *foo.bar you need to protect the * character (which is used as a wildcard)

Hence you would write something like touch /home/user/\*foo.bar

If you want to write a dos style path like \\server\share in unix you have to write \\\\server\\share (the first backslash protects the second one)

So if Silicon Dust had written
    Code:
    c:\\windows\\ehome\\ehprivjob.exe /OCURDiscovery
one of the \\'s would have remained for the confused people trying to "follow the directions"

I see their forward slash was unaffected /OCURDiscovery

Yes. Clearly that shouldn't happen, but who knows what happened to the original file? maybe it was managed by a faulty mail server, maybe it was passed trough a some Mac program or whatever.

Obviously not. The slash is used everywhere in unix (hence in internet), it isn't a special character there.

Well that superseded by the utility I mentioned.

Anyway just launch wmc with the /nochrome switch.

    Export the data from

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Media Center\Settings\MCE.PerUserSettings

Open the reg file and adjust the values of the window dimension/position to fit your srcreen size, then re-import the registry.

Keep the reg handy to restore the window size/position if you need to move it.

You will miss the close button on the top right corner. Just use alt+F4 or the main WMC menu to close it.

Ok, ehshell with /nochrome does let me run WMC in RDP (although I can run it once and then if I try it crashes but one thing at a time ) but if I try to play any recorded shows nothing happens. Actually nothing. No error nothing, it put me right where I was at the "play" selection of a recorded program. Should that work too?

Yes, it should work as well.

No difference here between chrome/nochrome when I play the recoreded TV.

Did you try The Maxifier? Same result?

    RDPWrapper Configuration

To confirm or change your settings...

    Open RDPConf

if listening state says Not Listening, run update.bat

    uncheck single session per user

    for now.....Disable Security

I thought rdp wrapper was necessary for multiple connections. Did I install it for multiple extenders? As I recall, I was working on both projects at the same time. Perhaps I blurred them together. Thanks for clearing that up.

I'm thanking about normal rdp connections (PC, cellphones, an so on), I can't help with xtenders.

Anyway yes, the RDP wrapper is needed if you want to connect to the server machine while logged in at the same time, but that isn't a so common scenario: usually if you want to connect remotely it's because you aren't in front of your "server" PC.

Personally I prefer to use a server OS for that task, hence no RDP wrapper needed but if, for whatever reason, you want to stick with a client OS, the RDP wrapper is the right solution.

I have RDPWrapper nstalled on Win10 (the server). WMC on the server can be playing live tv in full screen. I only have 3 tuners on this side of the network. Two workstations can RDP in using Microsoft remote desktop connection and get their own instance of WMC and their own tuner. Two more workstations can open their own instance of WMC and watch recorded. I thought the only way to make this happen " multiple remote desktop sessions" was to either edit termsrv.dll or install RDPwrapper.

5 sessions was all I could run...maxed out the resources of the server. Old i3 dell laptop used as server.

That is why I suggested the guys RDPwrapper wasn't configured. I thought he was tying to open a 2nd session.

Sure having multiple tuners is a situation where the RDP wrapper is needed. Was the only way until some months ago, given was impossible to have the WMC on a server. But now we can...;)

Hey guys. I thought I would try v12 on one my pcs. I was able to install it successfully. I'm also able to watch regular and drm channels.

But the PC is also locking up. I'm able to replicate this by setting the PC to sleep and then waking it - as I soon as I try live tv, the pc locks up. Anyone know why this could be happening?

The server OS is the ultimate. Your work with WMC in the server OS is ultimate too. I think as far as number of users goes, more will use Win10 than server OS. Most of us coming from win7, are familiar with making win7 do server tricks.

This multiple session RDP could replace extenders for those of us unqualified with server OS. For example let's say my Win10 has 12 tuners...a pair of 6's is common here. Half of the tuners are busy recording to the Nas and the other 6 are assigned to the 6 tv's in the household. A half dozen NUC'S (one at each tv) running RDP client, would have access to WMC on Win10. The live TV via RDP is only limited by the number of tuners and the resources of the server.

In the car, on the way to the cottage, WMC Live and Recorded, your Music collection, etc., can be with you also.

Once you get to the cottage, same thing. One DVR to many locations.

The only problem I have seen in my testing is that DRM channels only works for 3 seconds then goes to display driver error. Max/min has no effect.

    Hi Crash,

I followed your instructions, and everything works perfect. I am also able to watch DRM channels.

Thanks a lot for your help.
