David, w/o trying in first person is always hard to understand what's going on. Just test and spend time to learn if a suggestion works in your scenario
Just installed Win 10 on my HTPC rig. Was able to get infinitv 6 pci-e working just fine (including DRM). My problem is adding the xbox 360 extenders failed (error). I reset PC (win 10 reformat) and unplugged my LAN. The baseline version for me is 10586.164. I've disabled updates following Gareth North's post#4234. Step 6 doesn't show me any problems. I am waiting to see what to do to proceed.
Update: Just skipped that step and kept going. Extender works!! I've been on for at least 30 min. Will check back to update you all
OKay, so here's what I have - I have WMC running on Win 7 (fully functional). I am trying to use a Win10 machine to RDP to the Win7 WMC and be able to play Recorded TV. I run WMC with and without nochrome and both open on the RDP connection. I can go to Recorded TV and select a recorded (not protected) recording and select play. The wheel spins for a second (normal) and then just returns to the listing of the show. It never starts playing on the RDP connection. Am I missing Something? Thank you Bryan
Obviously, Yes. But, You haven't mentioned what you did to get to this point. Or what set of instructions you used. What error do you get in the EventViewer on your Win7 box? EventViewer/Applications/MediaCenter
I decided to take the plunge and upgraded to Win 10 64-bit Pro yesterday. I did the upgrade from Win 7 Ultimate 64. Then I did a Windows reset (in-place reformat). Installed Nvidia drivers and then WMC v12. Installed DCA 64 and PlayReady 64. Worked like a charm (had to retun Ceton tuners to recognize all 6 tuners (was only detecting 4). Trying to add the extenders was another story. Trying to add extenders after updates was a no-go. So I reset PC again and foklowed Gareth Norths directions to the T. The only issue I had was when step 6 said to hide certaim updates, it didn't find them. So I proceeded to do everything else and it works perfect! Win 10 Pro x64 Intel Core i5 2500k 16GB DDR3 RAM Nvidia 970 GTX Ceton InfiniTV 6 Pci-E 2 Xbox 360's Huge shout out to everyone who contributed to this amazing feet! I cannot express how much gratitude I have. If there is a donation to the main developer(s), I'd gladly buy you a pint (or 2 or 10!)
Have to sell my ceton echo now, unless crash2009 or Gareth thinks there is a possibility to get it to work!
Me too, or, maybe we should pass the hat for Meluvalli. My Echo gets stuck on this one. MMC doesn't help much.
Lav was suggested as a fix for some error in V10. I just continued installing it for insurance. Congratulations BTW
But "should" is not "must". They are needed to support any video not supported by the stock codecs On the other hand, the LAV filters are practically mandatory on any x64 system but the released W10 Pro and Windows Home Server 2011. W10 Enterprise S (LTSB 2016), Windows Server 2008 R2, 2012 R2, 2016, any form Win 8.1 x64 (obviously except Win 8.1 WMC) all of them requires external codecs and LAVs are practically the only choice On x32 systems (practically just w10 and w8.1) you can choose from a wider variety of codecs. Not just MS and LAV On the latest W10 anyversary builds (143xx) the stock codecs may be the source of crashes for WMC and LAV codecs is the quickest way to fix it.
This seems to be fixed for me with build 14372, at least recorded tv plays and speaker setup works without installing any additional codecs. Also, I am now getting an error in Event Viewer when using TV Signal Setup with a HDHomerun Prime. No error showed up previously when I tried to set it up.
