I had a little delay with importing the task. As it turned out.....TaskSchedulerLibrary\Microsoft\Windows\MediaCenter\Extender was "Hidden". It took awhile to figure out all I had to do was click View\ShowHidden I have the task from Win7 imported into Win10 with WMCv12. I assume the task needs to be edited...Do I need to change anything? The Extender Account on Win10/WMCv12 is named Mcx2-Win10 I see, I can Right Click the task and select Properties, will make the Task ready for editing.
I am running W10 technical preview. WMC was running up till the build 14383. Unfortunately, in the latest one, 14385 , WMC stopt working !! I tried to uninstall / re- install, but no luck. Any suggestions?
Perhaps DisplayPort known issue? Or if your display connects via HDMI/HDCP, you may need to cleanup and reinstall PlayReady. BTW I also have FIOS and on my DisplayPort displays I resort to using PowerDVD's DTCP-IP to watch Fox News and other DRM channels. I wish someone came up with a hack to allow WMC to recognize DP's HDCP abilities.
Which version are you talking about? If you're talking about V12, clean the settings folder using the mc recovery task
Media Center Extender Session Was Established T-S, Your suggestion to copy the task from Win7 to Win10 wmc12 worked fine. No error in Event Viewer when setting up extender. Something??? edited the task without my assistance. Session Established with NO Errors
@T-S On your sig, The TRUE "Holy Grail" on Windows Media Center IS a true full screen RDP session using DirectX for perfectly smooth video (AKA Softsled). I was in Beta programs for the Vista, TV Pack on Vista (adding cablecard support) and Windows 7 WMC beta. I worked directly with the eHome team for a few years. The RDP session was the MOST requested feature in EVERY beta I was in, and in the OLD THEGREENBUTTON it was known as the Holy Grail for WMC. Still, no question good feats....and as always thanks
True FS is solved. Intelligent video streaming isn't solved even by Remote FX and possibly never will. Anyway that isn't the holy grail, that is the holy grail for people living in US and using the cable card modems. Everyone else can do whatever he wants, thanks to the RDP patch, dvblink, serverwmc, the server support or a combination of them. For the single remaing thing which isn't yet solved you would need a very skilled american, with a CC subscription and enough time love for the WMC. And if that person wasn't materialized for 10 years, and in the latest year of development here, I'm afraid that is very unlikely it ever happen. Never say never, but...
WMC doesn't Record anything I upgraded from W 8.1 to W 10 and installed WMC v8.5 by T-S I had WMC on prev 8.1 that worked just fine for OTA recordings, I'm in USA. the recording doesn't work for me. I checked recording and media folders in TV setup WMC settings, I use another drive "R:" for the recordings and other Media WMC can see and plays all old Win 8.1 recordings just fine, Live TV works Ok as well I tried to press "Record" and I see red dot in Guide page, but nothing were recorded, also I don't get any new scheduled recordings ether I don't need any extender or etc, WMC uses A188A OTA/ATSC card What I'm missing and how I can fix it? Thanks
Hi Davinci, I don't suppose you have a photo of the ehome team Davinci? Do you know where they were based? Would love to know some more about them seeing as they wrote a robust bit of code that is still relevant to a lot of people including myself. Also would like to know there thoughts on its demise and the true reasons Microsoft killed it. I've always wondered if 4K Tv cards come out and BDA drivers released for them would media center still work with them? Maybe someone could start a kickstarter project or something else to raise awareness and maybe some old coder part of the team could get SoftSled to work. Best Regards Gareth
Guys, Sorry but I'm new here and there;s so much stuff to look through to work out how to install WMC v12. I have a Windows 7 PC which I've upgraded to Windows 10 Home. I've tried installing the v12 of WMC and it appears to be successful. But I keep getting the following error when I try to run it. Application: ehshell.exe Framework Version: v4.0.30319 Description: The process was terminated due to an unhandled exception. Exception Info: System.AccessViolationException at Microsoft.MediaCenter.Interop.Win32Api.SetCurrentProcessExplicitAppUserModelID(System.String) at ServiceBus.UIFramework.UserControlPoint.Launch(System.String) I have managed to uninstall it and installed Windows Media Center from Windows 8.1 (6.3.9600.16384) Any ideas on what I'm doing wrong with the version 12 install? Thanks. Dave.
The answer is still the same as 3/4 messages above. You have likely the settings not imported correctly from w7. Get rid of them, using the mediacenter recovery task
Hey Guru's and Magicians here who have sacrificed their time/lifes to bring us this far with WMC on Win 10 just whatare the chances that your under-appreciated efforts survive the Win 10 Anniversary update that is coming? I've gone back about 100 pages and very little has been discussed on this; Is their enough Win10 Insider info in the Insider builds that give you any clues? W/O WMC on my old Dell (circa 2010) the PC will pass into history and the tech junkpile.. Thanx in advance
