Sorry T-S for the silly question but does this installer work with the Xbox 360 extender? I've been waiting for someone to make an idiots installer to make the 360 work out of the box if you like. I'm one of the idiots that are looking forward to the WMC experience we all had before M$ dumped on us all by dropping WMC in windows 10.
Sorry for being so ignorant. I have simply installed WindowsMediaCenter_10.0.10134.0v2.1 on Windows 10 build 14383. That worked. After upgrading to build 14385, it didn't, even when I uninstalled/reinstalled WMC. What is V12? Do you have a link to instructions how to do 'clean the settings folder using the mc recovery task' ?? Thanks
I have no idea. Just try and report back A couple of commands to type seem dumb proof enough to me. Anyway I can't risk to break something for other people w/o even if it really works on v8.x. So the xbox support is half cooked in v8.6. Just put it on the microwave oven and report what happens...
That version is older than Noah, and isn't fully working. Clearly you got it from one of the sites who parazitized the MDL work Open the scheduled task applet, select the mediacenter recovery task and launch it.
Hi Everyone. I upgraded from W7 Pro to W10 Pro and followed the process to install Media Center. I was able to install and I see the Media Center icon. When I click on it...I see the computer chugging, but nothing happens. Any ideas? Thanks!
I have the same issue. Upgraded from W7 to W10 and installed v12, but it won't run. I think we need to clear out our old settings, but I'm not sure how. I already ran the MediaCenter Recovery Task "Right click on Computer > Manage > Task Scheduler > Expand Task Scheduler Library > Microsoft > Windows > Expand it to locate Media Center > Highlight it > Locate MediaCenter Recovery Task > Click Action tab in the menu > Select Run."
You could also use elevated cmd or powershell Code: %systemroot%\ehome\mcupdate.exe -MediaCenterRecoveryTask Then run Setup Custom, NOT EXPRESS

That setting has never been available in v12 for me. Others have commented the same. When we go to Audio Setup, I get the Audio troubleshooter rather than a choice of Audio settings such as Stereo/5.1/7.1 I normally just "skip the troubleshooter page" Regardless of the missing setup page my Audio appears to work fine. mwpeterson has reported that the setup page is available in the 32 bit version he was using. My v8.5 is on the back burner while I research local group policy for 3rd party extenders in v12.
WMC Patch v12.7 not functioning after windows update on 12 July 2016 Anyone else having problems running WMC after the cumulative update Microsoft pushed out yesterday? This is the update I installed last night: support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3172985 I installed it last night, but didn't try to record or watch live TV until this morning. WMC would run, but it said it couldn't find any tuners. Finding that odd, I opened the HDHomeRun View app and was able to watch TV, so my tuner is working right. Then I uninstalled v12.7 of the WMC patch using the download link posted earlier in this thread (forums.mydigitallife.net/threads/61061-DISCUSSION-Patch-WMC-to-run-on-Windows-10-final-amp-possible-alternatives/page336?p=1200602&viewfull=1#post1200602). After the uninstall, I reinstalled 12.7 without any errors. Now WMC won't even run. When I try to open WMC, the circle on the mouse pointer spins for a few seconds and then stops. Thanks for the help!
it shows under Settings -> Update... Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1511 for x64-based Systems (KB3172985). Requires Restart. I don't want too now because I'm afraid WMC is going to break. I'll wait and watch this thread. I have Ceton InfiniTV 4 USB and Windows 10 Pro 64bit. I will restart tonight before I go to bed since I need WMC and will post if it's still working or not.
Guys, After running the MediaCenterRecoveryTool either from Task Scheduler or from the command prompt I still can't start MCE and I continue to get errors in the Eventlog. Also if it somehow helps, when I ran the task in the scheduler I got an error"Class not registered (0x80040154) Any other suggestions?
