Well, sadly, it appears the writing is on the wall for us who own SiliconDust tuners..I guess I'll prevent the Anniversary Update from installing and hope for the best that WMC 8.6 and/or Version 12 continues to run on the older version of Win 10..when WMC dies on Win10 I might out of desperation try to roll back to 8.1 as do have an iso image somewhere around here..
LTSB applies only to the Enterprise Edition of Win 10..not Pro or Home which is 8 months Ref: technet.microsoft article on Windows 10 servicing (would not let me post the link) Is your info on Win 10 LTSB based on 10240 different from this TS?
Most of us I'm sure are running Win 10 Pro or Home not build 10240..my build # for Pro is 10586 Version 1511 Nov 2015 update..so if I'm interpreting this info correctly the longest we have is 8 months before MS forces us to move to the upcoming Anniversary Edition which evidently breaks WMC for those of us with SD tuners...that's the problem...I don't see the relevance of build 10240 but then again I may be in water over my head..pls explain if my logic is faulty and why..
Since you are running Pro, if you set to defer upgrades, that puts you on the Current Branch for Business (CBB). That delays for about four months. Then you can use the group policy editor to defer for another 1-8 months. That gives you a max of 12 months.
(Sure. You can buy me a vacation in the US, and I will glad to fight) Thanks for the offer but if I could afford that I would buy a TIVO
It was a jokek, but even if it wasn't a joke it was intended as "you American users" not "you Jessie" (damn English and its lack of the second person )
It is quite possible, jessie, that MS in their relentless pursuit of $$$ has removed the last kernel insertion points where the dll's that are required for WMC ( in a patched state) would normally go; if this is indeed the case TS and the other magicians who have brought us this far can't "fix" anything as they do not have access to source code that would be required..I suspect this is what has happened as MS wants to shed the WMC boat anchor and the maitenance of WMC that is required for WIN 7 & Win8.1
Has anyone upgraded to build 14393 and have media center working? Ceton-CableCard-USA-Time Warner Cable here, but Media Center wont load, I tried uninstalling and reinstalling on build 14393 but it wont load. I was using v11 before the upgrade. Perhaps I need to clean install if someone else's setup it working.
Yes WMC works with build 14393. Your tuner may not work with WMC and build 14393. Try v8.6 or v12 from the signatures of T-S & crash2009 a few posts up. v12, I believe, will work better with a cablecard tuner and DRM channels, if you can get it working. v8.6 will be easier to install.
