So what's the point? Just use Wmc and Kody, set up properly your remote using Eventghost to launch the first one or the latter and you're done, w/o having to buy anything.
I have a Harmony with a cable TV mode and Media Center mode, each taking care of starting everything required in the proper configuration, and programming the various keys of the remote to allow the access to all the features of the mode being used (including macros created with Autohotkey to use various WMC shortcuts from the remote) I have family members who need "Simple". If they want to watch a DVD or a Blu-Ray, they Click on Media Center Mode, stick the disk in and it comes up, without having to use a different set of actions. This was the way it worked with TMT and its integration inside WMC When I saw PowerDVD 16 had no Autoplay integration to WMC, my first reaction was to find a way to add it so I would not have to teach them a different procedure for Blu-Ray. In the mean time I found out that with the proper Windows 10 Auto Play settings and PowerDVD TV mode, everything is almost the same as before with TMT. When they start Media Center mode, if they stick a DVD in, it will still play inside Media Center. If they stick a Blu-Ray in it will come up inside PowerDVD over WMC. The only difference as I mentioned is that after finishing the Blu-Ray Movie, they have to click exit to end PowerDVD, and menu to go back to WMC. I know I can make WMC come back automatically with Autohotkey which I use for other things. But all in all I believe it will be "simple" enough as is
I use eventgost to make it simple., just a cross check to the opened app, and a single set of remote commands will work for wmc/kodi/mpc-hc and whatever. Just using a simple cheap/random remote controller, no need to invest a fortune in a monster remote, no need to get a degree in "remoteology" In your case the dvd button would close the wmc (if opened) then start kodi (or whatever you like) to the right page. The TV (and/or other buttons of your choice) would close kodi (if opened) and start wmc on the right page. Just like they were a single app.
Hi All, I have successfully installed v12 installer on Windows 10 Pro and it is working perfect. My issue is that ever since installing it I receive an error message: Open File Security Warning Name: C:\windows\eHome\ehtray.exe This can open up 30 odd times, even when WMC is not running, like in the middle of a movie I am watching on VLC Media Player and it really is annoying. It pops up with the warning and looks like it is trying to open File Explorer. Appreciate any help Regards, Ian
Before you extract the files, you are suppose to right click on it -> select properties -> general tab then on the bottom you will see Security:. Check mark the Unblock box then click Apply. Now you extract the files and your computer will not give you any ehtray warnings. You can also get rid of the warnings following the steps below but it will lower the security of your computer. run gpedit.msc Go to “User Configuration” > “Administrative Templates” > “Windows Components” > “Attachment Manager“. Open the “Inclusion list for moderate risk file types” setting. Set the policy to “Enabled“, then add .exe to the “Specify moderate risk extensions” box then click on OK.
I appreciated the detailed instructions and followed them very carefully. I have confirmed that the eshell.exe and folder are intact and even the WMC icon is available but when I try to start WMC as administrator or even run the eshell.exe directly as administrator nothing happens. When I run the outer Installer again it says that Mediacenter Pack is already installed. Have you heard this before and is there any advice/help you could give me. This is a Windows 7 upgrade to 10. Thank you so much,
Thanks Crash for taking the time to hep me. T-S's response of RTFM really does not help me as I have Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, anxiety, Depression and injuries that leave me house bound from my time in the Army and I find it very hard to concentrate to read. I'll give this one a go and let you know how I go. Regards, Ian

I am trying to install WMC v12 on a new install of Windows 10 and can't seem to get it working. I've followed all the instructions in the readme and this thread but it won't launch. The install scripts ran successfully and I didn't encounter any issues. When I try to launch WMC, I run it as admin as instructed. The UAC box pops up, I click yes, then nothing happens. I can't find any reference to anyone else having this issue. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling and it still does the same thing. Thanks!
Man, I wish people would read the instructions ! This has been asked every page but, not one reads the in nstructions. Use the Uninstall.... find the zip/7zip file... right click, go to Properties, On the bottom click unblock. Then extract it and re-install.. This will fix your issue. PEOPLE PLEASE FULLY READ THE DIRECTIONS BEFORE ASKING A QUESTION ABOUT INSTALL
