You see... You dint' even bothered to read the post 1... V6 is old like a T Rex. Use V12 or v8.6 , my statistics still works...
We're going to need a PSA on the Anniversary Update & US based cablecard tuners. On August 2 a lot of people are going to be wondering why WMC can't find their tuner.
NO PROBLEM ( T-S & Crash2009 ) will fix problem ( LOL ) with Windows 10 anniversary update I am taking the path of least resistance. ...............LTSB.................. did that yesterday but there always hope
sorry for that I bought a USB DVB-T dongle and seller told me for viewing TV I should install WMC via a link they gave me Then having problem I decide to uninstall so I´m asking here I uninstalled AntiVirus and then was able to follow ads for uninstall WMC (I got 2nd Windows open) But now knowing I was using an old version...... I´m getting more interested in this product
Hoping some one can answer me as I have searched the thread numerous times and have not found a answer. I've v12 installed and working on win10 10586.494 but after using wmc the machine will never go back to sleep. it appears that ehrecvr.exe stops the machine from being able to go back into sleep. If i do a powercfg -requests i get what is below. If i stop the windows media centre receiver service then the request goes away and the machine will sleep again. Is this some thing that is curable or has my v12 install messed itself up? DISPLAY: None. SYSTEM: [DRIVER] Legacy Kernel Caller [SERVICE] \Device\HarddiskVolume4\Windows\ehome\ehrecvr.exe (ehRecvr) AWAYMODE: None. EXECUTION: None. PERFBOOST: None.
To Crash2009 and T-S, Thanks for the breadcrumbs! My issue was with the HDHomerun software. The latest versions omit the HDHomerun Service. Rolling back to an earlier version reintroduced the service and WMC found the prime. Now to try to install WMC version 12...
Go up into Forum Actions/Settings.... (I forget exactly where) Change your view to 40 posts per page. Turns this thread into 140 Pages instead of 550. When someone says back a page or two, they are talking 40 posts/page. Another suggestion that is common around here is we might remember the date but not the post or page number...v11 was just before Xmas.....v12 was end of January..... RDP was February.....Xbox was March.....The links in my signature go to the first day a version was released.
First post. I upgraded to Win 10 last night (ver 1511 OS build 10586.494) and want to install WMC and use my Ceton cablecard as a tuner. The first version of WMC for Win 10 I tried to install was a very early version and the install failed but I finally found the link to ver 12.7 and it seems to have installed OK. The command window says it was successful. I see the Media Center icon in my Start Menu. When I try to start it, nothing happens. If I drill down to start as an administrator I do get the spinning blue circle for a few seconds (until I move my mouse) and then nothing. I have searched the forum but found nothing quite like this. I ran sfc/scannow and it did find some bad files, some of which it could not correct. I looked at the CBS log and most of these are in ehome and there are some associated with Media Center such as mdmde.dll. I am not sure if it makes a difference, but I will mention that I use WinRAR to unzip files. Since the install command completed successfully I assume this is OK. Any advice as to how to proceed is welcome. Thanks for your expertise.
Forums aren't write only. Just read back few pages. Whatever just clean the setting folder by running the mediacenter recovery task, or manually.
Thank you. I know you are very busy dealing with the likes of me; last minute Win 10 upgrades. I have found a clue in #5590 and will install your V8.6 and try running that uninstall twice (with reboot as per crash2009). I am running MRT now but it has been running for about 20 minutes or more so it may be broken, too. I will give it a while longer and if no joy then will run the 8.6 uninstall and try installing 8.6 to see if that works better than v12. If it does work then I will see if I can get it to find my cable card. Thanks again.
T-S & Crash2009, figured out my black screen, the tv didn't like the change in frame rate, the media center setup wouldn't save the 1080i 60hz setting. had to change rates in windowed till I found something that wouldn't case it die on me
I don't remember ever reading that problem before with the MDL Versions of WMC. Usually the complaint is the other way around...Won't Wakeup to Record. Check EventViewer/MediaCenter for more clues. Might be a Task that is unable to complete. EPG, Driver Update, etc. Check Task Manager/CPU Is ehrecvr using too much CPU? What model of tuner are you using? and which driver? Its not a USB tuner is it? What Version of WMC? v12, v11, v??
