WMC patch uninstall cmd fails Hi, I've just upgraded from W7 to W10 and, per the readme file, tried to run the uninstall cmd. Unfortunately, it fails with a 'Find' is not a recognized as an internal/external command... Can anyone fix it and make the updated file available so I can re-run install? TIA, A WMC admirer
That means you typed it incorrectly. "Find" should not be part of the path. Where exactly is Uninstaller? C:\???\???\???\uninstaller Mine is in "C:\Win10Project\WMC\WMC_v12\WMC64\Uninstaller.cmd"
What are the advantages of running 14393 ? Seems like its kinda obsolete now that RS1 is being released. I get what you are saying about Wiki's post. He is using RS1, it appears he is in France, Using T-S's v8.6, and I'm pretty sure they don't use CC tuners in France. We should at least be able to get OTA with 14393 or RS1, maybe without even using ServerBDA. It appears Microsoft and Silicon Dust don't want our business. Back in the olden days (2011-2012) I did have an Infini4 CableCard Tuner running without a CableCard installed. As I recall, I could watch live, or record what I was watching. I never did get the cool stuff working until I got a CableCard.
RS1 is 14393. Changed to Digital Cable from Cablecard in HDHR setup. Tried to setup the TV signal and it locked up on me. Messing around with the files could have screwed up things for me. I'll need to try it again.
As I recall, my CC tuner without a CC was a really odd-ball project. When I told anybody what I had done to make it work, they got this funny look on their face. that looked something like this I likely recorded my steps about 3500 posts ago at TGB. I'll look it up, see what I can find.
It sounds then like you should be able to kill explorer.exe in task manager, and restart it from the testrights window with no additional file manager required.
It sounds like it is not so simple or I did suggest that path. Windows explorer is not just a filemanager, it's the default shell, launching it from the elevated prompt will make it to read it's profile from the system account instead of yours, leading to an endless list of UI problems. Anyway why are you all so scared by an alternate fm? It's just a program like any other and XYeplorer is even monolithic, a single exe, no dll or other stuff is required. Just copy it somewhere and it will work.
I made the testright script of 8.6 to open in it's current directory for a reason: being handy. Just copy xyeplorer.exe in the testright directory once. Then you will have to type just "xyexplorer" to launch it Even easier: xy --->tab--->enter
Works good! How do you do v8.6 TestRights...Pin to Taskbar? forget that question, I found it. Advanced/Run as Admin
The precious data are the personal data, and you can delete them even as a normal user. In the worst scenario with the system data all you have to do is to reinstall Windows or to rollback a restore point. Not a biggie.
For the last hour or so I have been trying to get the TestRights v8.6 Shortcut Pinned to the Taskbar. The only way I found so far...was to change the Target Path to... Code: C:\Windows\explorer.exe C:\Win10Project\WMC\WMC_v8.6\WMC-V8.6\_TestRights.cmd I am now able to simply drag the shortcut into the Taskbar. Seems to load everything OK The problem is I don't know if I have crippled TestRights or XYplorer in any way, by adding c:\windows\explorer to the Target Path. Any ideas if there is a better way or should I just forget this idea and just doubleclick the shortcut from the desktop?
The way to get it asking for the admin rights is already a trick, so I don't think it's so easy. But there you can use the latest winaerotweaker which has the option to make something to run as administrator w/o triggering the UAC. You can also do it manually using the task scheduler and and calling the task with a normal shortcut.
