Yes, chopping down trees with an axe used to take all day, now we got a chainsaw. Both can cut your leg off.
I used the checkbox in the shortcut property's Advanced/RunAsAdmin. I dont mind the two enter's for UAC. I was just a little concerned about functionality of TestRights and XYplorer. There is another one with a goofy name. Should have been Xplorer instead of XYplorer. XY tab enter makes up for the 2 UAC enters. Thanks again!
So I was hesitant to apply the Anniversary update but I figured it was something that I will have to do eventually. Well, I just did and WMC is gone Should we follow the same steps as before to get it installed again?
Yeah, I was thinking of doing that. I should probably also disconnect the tuning adapter while I test it.
Not sure about the HDHR, but with the Ceton Infini4, I had to reset the tuner when things locked up. It had a Factory Reset option in the tuner driver software. Dont know this for a fact but it appears some of these tuners have a "mind of their own", and it needs to get erased occasionally.
After a few tries of installing -> uninstalling -> reinstalling I finally got it to install properly. But now, WMC will not launch. No error is given. WMC just doesn't open.
Yep, I just did the upgrade, and reinstalled following the instructions, ALL GOOD AGAIN. Oh that version 12 WMC
I just wanted to share that I was able to get Media Center working on Windows 10 Anniversary Edition with the HDHomeRun Dual tuner (Note, this is the OTA version, NOT the Prime or cable card version). I did a clean install of Windows 10 version 1607. I then installed the WMC from T-S version 8.6. For some reason it didn't install the Windows DVD player, but just using the MSI file it installed fine later. I just had to manually create a firewall exception for the Windows Media Center Receiver Service. Neither the HDHomeRun driver or WMC installer didn't do this. Here is the commands I used for this. Save this following code as a .BAT file and run it. Thanks to all... Code: @echo off setlocal :: :: Auto elevate this batch to administrator... :: cd /d "%~dp0" (NET FILE || (powershell start-process -WorkingDirectory '%cd%' -FilePath '%0' -verb runas)&&(exit /B)) >nul 2>&1 :: Add the Media Center Firewall Rules netsh.exe advfirewall firewall delete rule name="Windows Media Center Receiver Service" netsh.exe advfirewall firewall add rule name="Windows Media Center Receiver Service" dir=in action=allow program="%%SystemRoot%%\ehome\ehRecvr.exe" enable=yes profile=any localip=any remoteip=any ping 1.1.1.1 -n 1 -w 1000>nul
Okay, I think I fixed my "scheduled recordings failure" problem by ditching the tuner driver I was using (suggested by DriverMax utility, which I have also ditched) and installing the VMS800_E750_1.05.520_WLH.exe driver instead for my Compro Videomate E750 Dual DVBT tuner card. Fingers crossed. This just leaves my WTVConverter problem outstanding. I'm wondering whether the inability to convert from .wtv to .dvr-ms might be a DRM issue? From my earlier post --
Yes. I have the same behavior and now im out of more ideas how to fix it. I give up at 03:30 last night... so rather tired now at 07:40 Ubbe
Okay! Next advice is to try the "Search Thread" function at the top of the page typing "HDHomeRun Prime" (without quotes). It might point you in the right direction.
Well this is cool, after upgrading to the anniversary update now Windows MCE V12 lets me do the sound setup, something that's never worked before. -- Tried on a second machine, same result, speaker setup seems to be solved by itself.
i ended up reinstalling an older copy of Windows 10 since it looks like the SD Drivers are broken for WMC in anniversary update.
