It looks like most of the posters here lately are dealing with cable cards.....I use an antenna and have only one PC on 14383.....a clean install actually...and cannot for the life of me get past the Download Guide error. I have WMC running successfully on several machines with Windows 10, but this is the only PC I have with the anniversary update. This was a test for me. Has anyone had success setting up an OTA signal with programming guide, from scratch, on 14383? Should I be able to ping data.tvdownload.microsoft.com? because I can't....nor can I ping -a the IP address used in the Workarounds.txt or my hosts file
WMC V8.7 installed and running, and just did a test guide download. I'm a DVBT/OTA user, based in the UK. Windows 10 Pro RS1 14393.10
Yeah, there have been a whole bunch of people having some good luck with OTA, Most of the reports start right around August 2, the day of the Anniversary Update Official Release. Since then we been kinda busy with CableCards. Hard to believe that was 300 posts ago. Post 5721 was on August 1 I dont remember many people having guide problems though. What version of wmc did you download? Probably you would have the best luck with T-S's new v8.7 just 8 posts up.
Found these for a start...there was a few more in the list from recycle and windows.old that I removed from the list. There is not really 56 files. You have somewhat of a catch 22 there, your 10586 is x64 and your 14393 is x86 I liquidated all my x86's a few years ago. Looks like ServerBDA grabs from System32 as well as SysWOW64 if that is any help for a x86. The cmd was run from elevated, I never tried TestRights. Re: #6004 That error code in the first and second lines of the log is a DRM system initialization error. You can search for the error code online, but the description is not super-informative. I have found a link to an MS help article concerning Redstone WMDRM issues. It does not appear promising. See support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/25975/windows-10-loss-music-video-anniversary-update
Thank you for the info. I have been out of the loop on this thread for a good while and my goodness this thread can explode in no time. I have never even seen these 8.x WMC downloads. I was using v12 that I found in this thread several months ago. But I will give 8.7 a try and see how things go from here.
It works for me here in Canada. V12 fails to install after upgraded to 1607. I am using Hauppauge tv card.
Nope. Tried running it in compatibility mode, no go. Tried installing in compatibility mode, still no.
This log is from a 14393 with a non-working HDHR-3CC Where does InitWMDRM go to get activated? See msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc704587.aspx, search 0xc00d271d (hex, no "o" or "O" s involved) "0xC00D271D"; "NS_E_DRM_UNABLE_TO_INITIALIZE"; "A problem has occurred in the Digital Rights Management component. Contact Microsoft product support." Note that in redstone, searching the windows directory (and subs) for *WMDRM* returns only a much smaller wmdrmsdk.dll file, and the WinSxS sources refer to a "wmdrmsdk-stub," not the wmdrmsdk.dll, wmdrmnet.dll, etc. files (~0.5 MB each) present in a 1511 installation. I'm looking for sources of "updates" to the WMDRM component in Win 7/8/8.1 that could be installed in redstone, but what I've actually found appear to be 2005-07 era material for XP or Vista. Another thought is parts of the "Desktop Experience" from Windows Server 2012R2, which installs Windows Media Player 12 and components to support it (Windows 8.1 equivalent). --No: Server2012R2 already has WMDRM components installed, without the Desktop Experience feature installed, likely as part of the base installation; see WinSxS file sources mentioned in my next post--
