I read that as Microsoft developing a tool that will strip certain WMDRM protections from certain, self-encrypted music files generated with Windows Media Player's CD ripper. Note that the page says nothing about restoring functionality for purchased music, etc. -- which would require restoration of the WMDRM subsystem and should not take months. I think that we need to find a way to install a valid WMDRM component in place of the WMDRM stub present in redstone. Windows Media Centre - PC goes to sleep When using Windows Media Center from the sticky above, which I have been using this software for a while - many thanks for this. W10 is a great improvement over W8, but Media Center is a must have for me. Having an issue however that when playing back media, the PC will go to sleep after the preset time. Under W8, if media was playing, the PC would not sleep, only once the media had stopped would the sleep timer kick in. This is driving me mad! Obviously I can set the sleep option to be off, but I am not very good at turning things of manually (and when the PC wakes to perform updates etc, it never goes back to sleep). Any ideas how I can get the PC not to sleep when playing back media, but to sleep normally if not?
Check your advanced power plan settings; there's a setting to allow/disallow this. I'm not at a Windows 10 computer right now but it's down the list under Multimedia I think.
Thanks, I think I know the option you mean and I have tried this, the option is: Multimedia Settings -When sharing media --Prevent idling to sleep Still does not prevent sleep when playing music/ video
I will give that a try when I am back home... Clean install of 8.7 had the same issue with the guide. Can someone confirm if I should be able to ping data.tvdownload.microsoft.com? I can't ping that from any device, not even my mobile phone. But I remotely logged into a China PC and was able to ping it... Albeit with a different IP address response, that I presume is the west coast IP. I'm on the East Coast.
It's not pingable from Italy, but EPG works Code: Microsoft Windows [Versione 10.0.14393](c) 2016 Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved. There is a sticky dedicated thread for WMC. Anyway which WMC version are you using? I bet you're using an old version taken from one of the random websites who parasitized the mentioned thread.
I'm assuming that refers to the retirement of WMDRM in favor of PlayReady. I'm experimenting with my WMDRM WinSxS pulls from 1511 now. That existed side-by-side with PlayReady. Update: Swimmin' through the registry... la da dee da dee...
Yeah posted a new thread by accident. I am using v12 from this site. It has been the same with every version I have tried
One more way to keep People From owning there own cablebox so they can keep making money on renting them to us
Well, Microsoft did officially stop WMC on Windows 10. This is a hack to get it enabled that Microsoft broke. So, you could always go back to Windows 7, or 8.1 w/WMC and you would be fine. Anyway about it, if this cant work, I want to RDP to a Extender session, so I can just open a link go directly to my HTPC in full screen in a WMC window. That would be the Only other option that would work for ME. Looking over the information here it is looking pretty dim.... I hope something comes through..
