TV Guide Data Error Hi all, finally got 8.7 on x64 14393.10 running After countless try outs on different versions (11-8.7), WMC found my 8 DVBLink Tuners for my CC's, but kept refusing to download the TV-Guide Data for Germany. No cleaning etc. helped. So i went back to my freshly built w8.1 x32 + integrated WMC, which had same TV-Guide-Error from the beginning a couple of days ago. I've tried different zip-codes and finally found one which worked. Someone mentioned this neat script in the 8.7 package: BackupRestoreSettings.cmd Did it and changed back to W10 x64 14393.10 - no luck with the zip-code again. So restored settings from W8.1 and yada, yada, yada... ...running Hopefully lasting...
Sorry, no need to test anymore. "WMC_6.3.9600.16384_x64_v12" package just runs fine. I just finished set up my TV card and I can watch TV, videos, DVD, MP3 etc with it.
I just installed the anniversary patch, and it uninstalled my WMC setup. :-( Now I went back and re-installed it, and now it claims it cannot see my TV Tuner. It's a Ceton InfiniTV6, and worked fine before the anniversary patch. But afterward, WMC refuses to see it. The Ceton Diagnostics program sees it fine. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get WMC to see the tuner again?
Cant install playready from Media Center ? Really ? This could be the start of the problem. Just because playready is installed, Does not mean Media center sees it.... Very interesting....
The mspr.hds file is used by more than just WMC. I've had Windows detect that it was from a "different machine" because I upgraded my RAM. When this happens, it doesn't just break CableCARD copy protected channels, it also breaks Netflix. Netflix support had me delete the file and Windows creates a new one for the "new machine", which doesn't have access to your old recordings. If you swap in the old file without also changing the memory back, they play for about a quarter of a second before switching to the blue screen saying it can't be played back on that machine (sometimes with audio on the blue screen).
Don't worry to much about TV Guide on 8.1 if you go back just do this for $25.00 a Year tell MS to Kiss off
I have been able to install Playready from WMC with the Anniversary Update and all of the beta builds.
The last 20 pages of this thread have been about that very issue. No cable card works on the anniversary update, and so far there is no light in sight for a potential workaround. Read up if you want the details, and go back to pre anniversary version or windows 7 in the mean time if you need WMC.
Using the BackupRestoreSettings.cmd script to get working settings from WMC on an older version of Windows is an inspired way of solving problems ... IF you still have access to an older working version of WMC with the same tuner hardware configuration.
Usually in cooperative projects like this bisecting/solving a problem, publicly, helps the other people to not face the same problem. If today you have two dumbprof installers is because "yesterday" a lot of people helped, no matter if their own problem was fixed or not.
I haven't needed to use this to solve a WMC problem personally BUT it saves me a lot of time setting up my preferences and future recording schedule when I migrate to another WMC version.
Neither me. But looks like in the US the problems on first setup are very common. Seem that American MS server have more exigent tastes.
A CableCard or multiple tuner card setup seems to be more common in the US adding more steps that can go wrong and adds 3rd-party software into the mix. Also it might have been many months or years since the last time they had to go through WMC setup and they might have forgotten which things worked when getting things working the way they wanted.
Sure. But I was talking about the tstep download epg/setup data alone. That is supposed to be the same everywhere, but practiaclly the US (or some part of the US) have more problems than RoW
