Has anyone tried bridging the InfiniTV to your NIC within WMC in Win10 Anniversary Edition? It sees it available for bridging within the add-in in WMC, but I'm afraid to go through with it right now. Last time I used the tuner bridging it ended up corrupting the objectstore db for the guide data. Officially Ceton says that doesn't work in Win8(.1), but I tried installing the add-in as described here and it at least sees the tuners within the add-in -- just not ready to screw up the infiniTV NIC settings that the host machine would be using as well right now. www thegreenbutton tv /forums/viewtopic.php?f=68&t=3926 Note: You have to use old "Windows 7" InfiniTV drivers for this because a) Win8(.1) drivers don't include network bridging support and b) Newer Win7 drivers refuse to install on Win8/8.1/10. I also checked some of the registry keys where my tuners all show up on working machines, under HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Media Center\Service\Video\Tuners and HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Media Center\Settings\TVConfig\Recorders. Normally even the tuners which are NOT configured in your current TV setup are listed there. In the latest Win10, these are empty. I tried adding them in and the tuners still weren't found for TV setup, maybe the GUIDs from my Win7 host didn't match what they need to in the Win10 guest OS, will have to dig more on that.. -- but I'm wondering if setting them up as bridged through the add-in would add the keys, as it creates a new virtual network device for the bridged tuner, and ends up with a different MAC address, IP, etc.
C:\windows\assembly on 10586 is full of dll's, one of which is DigitalCableAdvisor, UpdateMachineForDigitalCable is in the same folder C:\windows\assembly on 14393 is full of folders, if you dig through there and into "C:\Windows\assembly\GAC_MSIL\DigitalCableAdvisor\1.0.0.0__31bf3856ad364e35\DigitalCableAdvisor.dll" "C:\Windows\assembly\GAC_MSIL\UpdateMachineForDigitalCable\1.0.0.0__31bf3856ad364e35\UpdateMachineForDigitalCable.exe" Have a look you'll see what I mean, the point is... 10586 works-14393 doesn't
I grabbed/exported the whole HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Media Center\*.* from 10586 and imported into 14393 my tuners are in there. Didn't make them work, but they are there. Have a read through that last post... there are a couple services that normally start when you boot 10586. In 14393 they are not running. I turned them on, still no tuners for WMC.
Crash, out of curiosity what happens using DVBlink? It's not supposed to work with drm'd channels, but at least it should allow you to see the clear channels. Hence would be interesting to understand if: #1 Dvblink is able to detect the CC tuner (it should I think, at least on 10586) #2 WMC detects the DVBLink virtual tuners #3 Assuming, 1 and 2 are ok, if you are able to see at least the clear channels (and if something changes between 10586 and 14393) #4 Assuming that at least the server/single seat setup works on one of the two windows version, if a WMC client installed on 14393 is able to connect and show the live tv, coming from the 10586 server, and viceversa. (for the record DVBlink has 20 days grace period before requiring a paid license), the client part is totally free.
Thanks T-S for the news... I am downloading 14901 just now and I will give it a try... I still have an image with 1151 that is working fine with version 11 so I can go back to it later...
DvbLogic suggests that is unlikely to work with a CableCard Tuner. In the past, in WMC, I have been able to access the Completely Clear Channels by removing the CableCard and setting up WMC as Digital Cable instead of CableCard. However, (as I recall) the channel list was limited. DvbLogic is more likely to work with the HdHomerun "Connect" or "Extend"
Presently, I am able to access the HdHomerun Prime directly using Windows Media Player. I believe this means "Part of" the CableCard Authorization is working. All the Non-DRM channels are working in WMP.
There are at least 4 completely unencrypted, possibly 13 now. The FCC mandated the 4 major networks to be unencrypted NBC, ABC, CBS, and FOX.
I was just curious about the Moto. I was just testing a few of the channels on 14393, using Windows Media Player. All the SD's work great. I only tried one Music Channel (MC-Jazz) buffered forever, but eventually started and played fine. Most of the HD's also played fine, a couple HD's had some trouble. And of course Starz wouldn't play at all. This would be a good setup for a "rooming house, or motel" you can only use one tuner and you cant record. So, I guess I'll give DvbLogic-WMC a try. At least I'll get the guide and a remote, and maybe even record if I want to.
Then the "other way", which is to use DvbLogic Server on 10586, and DvbLink + WMC on 14393. Any one know if WMC --> DvbLogic --> DvbLink --> WMC will do DRM?
